A Favor for the Blacksmith

Hey, Hiddy. I've got a small favor to ask of you. You remember the blacksmith Toyo, right? You know, the girl you saved back at Tatara? Well, it turns out she buried some of her valuables to stop the bandits from taking them. She was planning to head back for them once the bandits cleared out. Now the village is a den of yokai, it's too dangerous for her to venture into alone. And that's where you come in! She wants you to go and retrieve the items in her place. Don't let her down, will you? She's counting on you!

A Favor for the Blacksmith Walkthrough

At the starting point, you'll find yourself underground the village of Tatara. There's a Kodama shrine to your left that you can use to pray. Before you climb up the ladder, go around and you'll find a Dweller at a dead-end. Kill it, then loot the corpse to find a Small Spirit Stone

Go straight and climb up the ladder to reach the village proper. At the top, you'll see a corpse that you can loot next to a puddle, as you approach it, a Toxic Slime yokai will jump out from the puddle and attack you. After killing the yokai, head outside and you'll see Mumyo standing by the gate of the village, speak to her twice and she'll accompany you.

Before you follow the marked location on the mini-map, go right from the gate towards the flames and you'll encounter a Gaki and Yoki. Kill both Yokai then loot the corpse to obtain a Large Spirit Stone. When that's done, follow the marked location towards the village proper. You'll find another Yoki roaming around and a Dweller inside the first house that's on your left.

Go straight, and you'll see a mist of the Dark Realm. The Yokai within it is an Ippon-Datara that drops random equipment or items and a chance to obtain an Ippon-Datara Soul Core. With Mumyo assisting you, killing the Yokai and the other human enemies will be helpful for you, however, she also takes damage and can be downed temporarily until you assist her. After you've killed the Yokai, there's a body that you can loot at the end of the path where the mist was.

Next, you'll want to head further towards the village. Up ahead, you'll see some bandits that are on the rooftops of the houses. Ready your bow and shoot the archer that's sitting on the plank and the other that's on the roof, there's also another new Yokai that's roaming around the village below which is a Wheelmonk. There's an open house to your left that you can search for loot, while you can go around the back of the closed house that's on your right where you'll find a corpse that can be looted. The path here is pretty much straightforward and you'll want to follow the marker to reach your objective, but apart from that, make sure to go around the backside and corners of each house, check inside for some bodies that you can loot.

Eventually, you'll come across a wooden bridge where the marker is pointing at. There's more Yokai here such as a Wheelmonk, Dweller, and Gaki. As well as bandits that are on the rooftops. There's one house here that has a ladder, after clearing the enemies on the ground, climb the ladder to reach the rooftops.

From there, follow the narrow path towards a dual-sword wielding bandit that's patrolling the area. Kill him, then continue going up where you'll encounter another bandit and a Dweller. After killing the enemies, loot the bodies that are on the rooftop then go back and climb down the nearby ladder towards the mission's objective.

The Dark Realm

The objective is to defeat another the Yokai that's underground and inside a dark realm. Before heading inside, you'll encounter another Dweller and a Gaki. When you enter the Dark Realm, an empowered Ippon-Datara will appear which is the source of the Dark Realm. Successfully killing it will dispel the field and complete this sub-mission, it may also drop its soul core, Ippon-Datara Soul Core, random items or equipment, as well as a Smithing Text: Ippon-Datara's Hammer -  after looting the items, speak to Mumyo to exit the mission.
