Abduction

Mission Start Text

I'm hearing stories of more and more people going missing around Ishiyama Hoganji. At first, I imagined they had been kidnapped, as sadly that is hardly uncommon these days, but it seems only children are going missing.

I have a feeling something else may be going on. In any case, I think it warrants a look, don't you?

Mission End Text

Defeat Ubume

As expected, a mere yokai is not much of a challenge for the likes of you. Well, that takes care of the culprit behind the disappearances then, although it's still strange that the yokai only targeted children. There's got to be a reason.

Anyway, let's just hope that this truly is the end of it.

Bring Lost Shotaro to Ubume

So a mother that lost her child became a yokai and longed to have children of her own... Ah, what a tragic tale, especially as she did not choose to become a yokai.

Well, you did all you could, and with this the disappearances should stop. I can only pray that this fate does not befall any other mother.

Abduction Walkthrough

The Culprit Behind the Kidnapping

starting point abduction nioh 2 wiki guide 600px

This mission is short where players need to fight through a group of Yokai and clear out two areas. Upon arriving, players will find the first shrine for this mission. When you're done preparing at the shrine, head towards the garden section of the pagoda. In this section, you'll encounter a Toxic Slime, a glowing lamp that spawns an Oni-bi, Gaki, Yamanba, One-eyed Imp, and Koroka. Make sure that you clear the garden section first and search the area as well to find loot. When you're done, proceed to the next section towards the marked destination - this will be the first section you'll need to clear.

When you arrive at the entrance section of the pagoda, the path behind you will be blocked and you'll have to clear the waves of yokai first. The first ones that will appear is a Gaki and a One-eyed Imp. Shortly after, a glowing lamp will spawn in the middle that summons Oni-bi. Next, another Gaki will spawn alongside a Karakasa Umbrella. The last one will be another small Gaki and a large one, killing the last yokai will dispel the barriers blocking the doors.

Trivia & Notes:

This mission can also be completed using an alternate method. After clearing the first yokai gauntlet, a side area will open containing a blue grave for "Lost Shotaro." Activating this grave costs 0 Ochoko cups and summons an npc wearing little armor and no weapons. If you clear the last gauntlet while keeping him alive, the Ubume at the end will not attack and simply thank you for protecting her child, ending the mission.

If you summon the benevolent grave after the pagoda entrance encounter and escort that NPC to the end you can skip fighting the last group of enemies. Ubume will thank you for bringing him back to her.
