An Encounter Among the Blossoms

Mission Start Text

"No matter how old I get, the beauty of the cherry blossoms never ceases to amaze me. But with the land overrun by yokai, many of those who head for the mountains in innocent pursuit of the blossoms will never return. Let us rid this place of the yokai that have infested it to ensure no one falls victim to them. Perhaps then this place can be enjoyed for the beauty of its blossoms once again."

"Let me die in spring...? Hm... I am sure I have heard that poem before. Wait, that poet must have been the wandering monk Saigyo! Ha ha! To think that you found those poems scattered around, then managed to meet the man himself under the cherry blossoms! Well, that must be fate at work! But, as Saigyo said, we have our own long journey to complete. I only pary that this mountain's blossoms shall be cherished far into the future."

An Encounter Among the Blossoms Walkthrough

Obtain the Inner Shrine Key

Upon arriving, head up the stairs and go to the left side and check around the corner to find a Scampuss. For this mission, you'll need to reach the inner shrine and save a wandering monk who is being attacked by yokai enemies. After grabbing the Scampuss, head over to the path with the red torii gate and you'll need to defeat the first batch of yokai which are x2 One-eyed Imp, Ubume, Lesser Umi-bozu, Kiryoki, Oni-bi, and a Karakasa Umbrella - clearing out the first batch removes the barricade that's blocking the next section.

Once you've cleared the first section, continue heading up the stairs towards the large red torii gates. Along the way, you'll encounter a Gaki that's feeding on a corpse that you can loot. When you reach the top, the gate ahead is locked and you'll need to obtain the inner shrine key from a yokai that's located in the outer shrine which is next to the gate. When you're ready, head towards the outer shrine and be ready to face another batch of yokai such as an Oni-bi, Tesso, Aberrant Soldier, Nuppeppo, and the Karasu Tengu. Killing the Tengu yokai grants the Inner Shrine Key. After clearing the second batch of enemies, from the temple, check the west side and you'll find another Scampuss - after grabbing the Scampuss, unlock the inner shrine gate and then head back down to the first shrine to save, don't worry, you don't need to fight the previous batch of enemies you just cleared if you rest at a shrine.

Inner Shrine

Upon entering the entrance of the inner shrine, loot the body on the left side of the steps to obtain an item, then head up the stairs and open the main gate of the inner shrine. Behind it is the third and last batch of enemies you need to clear out to save the monk. Upon entering, the path behind you will be blocked and the first yokai to appear is a Karakasa Umbrella followed by these enemies, Oni-bi, Red Kappa, Lesser Umi-bozu, Bakegani, Nuppeppo, One-Eyed Imp, Onyudo, and the main yokai enemy which is the Mitsume Yazura along with a large Bakegani that holds and conjures the dark realm once it appears. You'll complete the mission and dispel the dark realm once you've defeated the last two yokai within the dark zone - after looting all the items and defeating the last yokai, approach the monk who's hiding behind the large tree and speak to him to leave the area.
