Basket Blade & Boar Cutter Description
A famous set of long and short katana forged in the Muramasa style by swordsmiths from Ise Province. The larger sword, known in Japanese as Kago-Tsurube, possesses an especially keen edge-just as a basket ("logo") used in place of a bucket ("tsurube") will hold no liquid, nor will a single water droplet rest on this sword's blade, such is its sharpness. The shorter blade, known as Inoshishigiri, was used by Sakai Tadatsugu of the Tokugawa clan to hunt wild boars. It was crafted by Fujiwara Masazane, a Muramasa school swordsmith who moved to Mikawa Province, forging such weapons as Honda Tadakatsu's favored spear, Tombokiri.
