"It would seem that yokai have appeared at Todai ji Temple, and are laying waste to its hallowed grounds. Would you be so kind as to head to the temple and quell this disturbance? "

"You did well to return in one piece. To think that Kukai elected to remain at the temple and face that darkness alone. Truly, he is a most selfless man, willing to risk his own life to protect others. I have no doubt that he will achieve al lhe sets out to do, and that his name will live in legend."

Battle at the Temple Walkthrough

Starting

As soon as you start the mission, Kukai joins you. Go up the steps and pray at the Shrine there, before going left, where you will find a Spider, an Aberrant Soldier and a Nuppeppo along the way. When you reach up, you will enter a Dark Realm. Grab the item in front of you, ignore the stairs going down and head to the left to kill an Karakasa Umbrella, a Konaki-Jiji and the Enki responsible for the Dark Realm. Grab the item by the body there, and head down the stairs to the first floor, where you will find a Big Spider as well as 3 Small Spiders guarding an item to your right. Kill them, and go left from the stairs to open a chest. Kill the Yamanba and the Small Spider, and keep going straight inside the building to get to a small room with an item on a body. To the right of this room, kill the Fox Spirit and the Rokurokubi and keep following this path to kill the Yoki and Aberrant Soldier along the way. At the end, you will find a chest guarded by an Ongyoki.

Outside

Go back to where you killed the Yamanba and go outside, turning left as sson as you step out to grab an item on a body. After that, head out and you will fight against a horde of enemies, starting with a Karakasa Umbrella and a Konaki-Jiji, then 2 Aberrant Soldiers and a Nuppeppo, then a Dark Realm will trigger to fight a Fuki and a Fox Spirit. After killing them, an Enenra will spawn. After this fight, ignore the steps to the second Shrine and go straight to find a building. Going around the building to the left is a Scampuss, and inside the building there’s a ladder heading down. Go down to find the Spa, and go out of this room to the left to find a chest guarded by a Rokurokubi. Now, go back to the Shrine, pray at it, and open the doors to the left of it to trigger a fight against Tate Eboshi. After the fight, talk to Kukai to end the mission.
