Janomecho is a Guardian Spirit in Nioh 2. Guardian Spirits can be selected on the Shrine menu and each provides a different boost to the player. Activate Yokai Shift by pressing + (BY on Xbox/Steam controller) when the Amrita Gauge is full.

Janomecho Description

A humanoid guardian spirit possessing butterfly wings and antennae, Janomecho is said to have a strong connection with death and the soul, and that all who speak its real name die---hence why people call it Janomecho, a type of butterfly known as "minois dryas" in English. Samurai would often pray to it before heading into battle, believing it would bestow great power upon those willing to risk their lives for glory.

How to use Janomecho

  • The attack bonus is about 12.5% at 25% life. It is worse than Hiyokucho on average for Critical builds in terms of damage, though it has the benefit of actually doing something in Yokai shift and outside of critical health. Aside from that, it also gives several other benefits to Critical Health Builds, such as faster Ki Recovery and very easy access to Yokai Shift.
  • Auto-Charge Amrita Gauge (Critical) Increases your Amrita Gauge by 2 every second while you have 30% or less health remaining. This is a powerful form of amrita gauge fill, but doesn't work during the cool down after switching Guardian Spirits or using a Yokai Shift.
  • The guardian spirit skill is Janomecho slowly flying forward, and after a certain distance or making contact with an enemy it creates a tornado of Corruption that lasts for five seconds and pushes enemies away. Weak in damage and Ki damage, strong for Accumulation.

She has the ability to summon multiple tornadoes so long as you let her summon one at a time. Very useful for keeping ki at a constant drop, especially for massive yokai. Works well on humans too only if you corner them and don't combo them out. Also, if you stand in the middle, most of the time enemies will not go near it giving you ample opportunity to use a ranged weapon or ability. Not damaging although a very deadly guardian spirit skill indeed.

Ok this is driving me insane, but why are they calling her a butterfly in the game??? She’s definitely a Japanese Emperor Gum moth, not a minios dyras! She’s even the same light tan design and color and has iconic moth antenna, most butterflies only have straight antenna.
This is MOTH WAIFU CULTURAL REAPPROPIATION and I shall not stand for such blasphemy.
