Japanese Heart Yokai Smarts is a Sub Mission in Nioh 2. This mission is recommended for level 110, has a difficulty level of 5, and features both human and yokai enemies. Japanese Heart Yokai Smarts tasks players with winning a duel against Hachisuka Koroku. Japanese Heart Yokai Smarts Walkthrough
A Duel Between Shiftlings
Hachisuka Koroku wishes to cross blades with you to see who's the strongest between the two shiftlings. Before you start this mission, it is recommended that you make further preparations since you'll arrive in the area where you'll fight against Koroku. Now, to unlock this mission, there are a couple of conditions that you must meet:
- In the sub mission: The Shiftling's Wise Judgement, you must choose Koroku as your companion and fight against Shibata Katsuie with him.
- Unlock the Interim location which is obtained through progressing the story. It will be available after the main mission: The High-spirited Demon. You can travel to the interim by clicking the grey icon on the bottom left of the world map.
- Speak to Koroku in the interim and exhaust all of his dialogues. If ever he's not in the interim, make sure you speak to everyone, exhaust their lines, and complete the sub missions that are related to them. Once you complete the rest, re-visit the interim and speak to him again.
Now, for this battle, you're pretty much still fighting against a human character. If you want to gain a slight advantage, when you arrive in the area, ready your bow or rifle and shoot him on the head to damage him a bit. This guy wields a Kusarigama and uses water-based attacks. You'll want to be careful when he tries to reel you in that can knock you off-balance, maintain a safe distance and try to use your ninjutsu tools and magic to poke him from afar. His burst attacks can be countered easily especially when he lies on his back and tries to spin around towards you like a top. If ever he does this, you'll want to exploit it with your burst counter so that you can follow up with a combo. Also, since you're fighting a human enemy, using weapons that can knock an opponent off-balance such as reeling in an opponent with a Kusarigama will be helpful for this battle. Just be cautious when he conjures the dark realm when his health is low and when his stamina is completely empty.
