Juko Seiji Information
Juko Seiji is a type of tea bowl glazed with celadon. Due to its resemblance to jasper, celadon pottery was popular in cultural circles dating back to the Tang dynasty, but Juko celadon was less prized in China due to its dull colors, such as light yellowish brown or greyish green. It is one of the five types of Chinese celadon bowls. The founder of the Wabi-cha style of tea ceremony, Murata Juko, often used these tea bowls since their more rustic appearance were a fine match for the thatched tea but in which he conducted his tea ceremonies.
