Kuzunoha the Fox is a Guardian Spirit in Nioh 2. Guardian Spirits can be selected on the Shrine menu and each provides a different boost to the player. Activate Yokai Shift by pressing △ + O (B + Y on Xbox/Steam controller) when the Amrita Gauge is full.

Kuzunoha the Fox Description

A Guardian Spirit that takes the form of a white fox, and the foremost messenger of the fox deity, Inari. 

According to legend, a warrior by the name of Abe no Yasuna once caught hunters in pursuit of a white fox in a forest in Shinoda, located in Izumi province. He intervened and was able to save the fox, but in doing so was badly wounded. Suddenly a beautiful woman called Kuzunoha appeared and nursed Yasuna back to good health. She would frequently visit him after that and the two eventually fell in love, married, and were blessed with a child.

However, at the age of five, the child inadvertedly discovered that his mother, Kuzonoha, was actually a fox. Leaving behind a short poem, the fox returned to the forest in tears.

" If  you love me, come and see me. In the forest of Shinoda, in the land of Izumi, you will find me among the sorrowful leaves"

The child left behind is said to have later grown up to become the onmyo mage, Abe no Seimei.

How to unlock Kuzunoha the Fox

• Acquired from Seimei after finishing the Main Mission: The Blighted Gate.

How to use Kuzunoha the Fox

• See Yokai Shift for the control scheme.
• The Guardian Spirit Skill is Kuzunoha creating a star and shooting a large beam of corruption forward from it. It is very strong at applying corruption, but not so in damage.
• This Guardian Spirit offers many offensive benefits for using elemental damage in general and onmyo magic in particular, increasing your melee damage and Yokai ability damage easily with elemental talismans, while also giving anima when used with elemental shots. That said, elemental weapon damage also works with Gallnut Broth and Hemlock Broth, and the yokai ability damage bonus works with any debuff, so this can benefit many builds and playstyles.
• For Yokai shift benefits, Anima Bonus (Onmyo Magic Hit) is solid to gain anima while also staying safe at range, and giing you more Yokai ability damage in an easy to access matter.
