Ogo & Nagamei Masamune Description
A pair of famous swords used by Tokichiro. Hideyoshi collected many swords in his time, but he was known to be particularly fond of blades forged by Goro Masamune, Go-no-Yoshihiro, and Toshiro Yoshimitsu from Sagami Province.
The long sword, Ogo, is considered to be Yoshihiro's finest work. Its name means "great river" and is said to come from the fact that it was considerably larger before it was whittled down to its current form. Nagamei Masamune, the short sword, was crafted by Goro Masamune. Its name literally means 'the Masamune sword with the long inscription' due to the fact that the full name of the smith, along with the lcoation and date of its creation, are carved into its blade.
