Onmyo Magic Skills is a skill tree in Nioh 2. This skill tree focuses more on a magical casting playstyle centered around talismans. Onmyo Magic Skills allow you to prepare consumable talismans that refresh when the player uses a shrine or sacred brush item.

Magic is the Core Stat that primarily affects your Onmyo Magic Power, which in turn influences how effective your Talismans are. Certain equipment buffs also use Magic or Onmyo Magic Power. Additionally, Courage has a minor effect on Onmyo Magic Power, and can be used as a secondary stat for Onmyo builds.

How to Acquire, Set, and Use Onmyo Magic Skills

  • Onmyo Magic Skills are unlocked by spending Skill Points into the tree.
  • Onmyo Magic Skill Points are unlocked by using magic in all it's forms. Talismans on weapons give xp for skill-points based on the damage inflicted while the talisman is active.
  • Alternatively, players can consume the item Onmyo Mage's Locks to gain Onmyo Magic Skills
  • Once you've unlocked a Talisman, it is prepared at a shrine, under the "Ready Jutsu" option
  • Talismans that have been prepared can be used through the item menu, or set to an Item Shortcut for quick use
  • Each Talisman costs a given amount of Capacity to ready, which varies based on the Talisman
  • Each rank of an Onmyo Magic Skill after the first just reduces the Capacity cost to ready the relevant Talisman- it does not otherwise empower the spell itself

Tips and Useful Information

  • Onmyo Capacity is governed by the Magic stat, giving one point of Capacity per level of Magic until 30. In NG+ mode Dream of the Wise, Magic will grant an additional point of capacity every 20 levels starting at 120 until 200, granting another 5 total capacity.
  • Completing the Story Mission The Sun Sets on Mount Tenno will unlock the Incantation Mastery skill on the Onmyo Magic tree, which will add 3+2 points of capacity.
  • Completing the late-game Dojo Mission The Nine Symbols will unlock the Mystic Arts for Onmyo Magic. These must be set in the skill tree when unlocked, rather than through the customization menu for weapon skills.
  • Since you can respec your skill tree in the Dojo, it is strongly recommended that you try a variety of Onmyo Magic skills rather than buying multiple levels of a single skill. Once you've found a set of spells you prefer, respec to focus points into those skills to allow for the highest Talisman density.
  • Omnyo applied to allies seems to scale off of their stats and not yours.

      So you dont get Onmiyo skill points by putting points into MAGIC like in the first game? You have to actually use magic stuff you pick up from the ground and thats the only way except Mage locks to get skill points for it? I guess that doesnt force you into leveling MAGIC just to get some skills

        You need 30,000 proficiency to unlock the Adept training, 100,000 to unlock the Veteran training, and 250,000 to unlock the Mystic Arts.

          So, I might have a stupid question, but I didnt find an answer anywhere else.
          A friend and I want to play duo through the story. Me as mage, him as meele.

          Since I have 2 characters in DotN I obviously know of the importance of magic (besides sloth, f*** sloth)
          Right now my friend and I play Nioh 1 and it is pretty clear to me, he does not...

          So here is what I thought: Lets enhance steel and Ele-stop Talismans to sneek-present him with some proficiency early on and just demand from him to return the favor in later scenarios.
          But, and that is my question, who actually gets proficiency? He with the buff or me, the one who "owns" that buff?
          I would guess him. I dont think the game is clever enough to track the source of the buff, but i might be wrong.

              Where are the mystic arts? I'm looking for the mystic arts but i do not find them anywhere on the wiki. They're kinda some of the best skills in the game, and all i found was a glitched page of the ''nine symbols'' mission.
              We need a page who reference them all.
