Rifles are Weapons in Nioh 2. Ranged Weapons do NOT have a skill tree. Rifles usually have good scaling with the Skill stat but they can also scale with Courage and Dexterity as well. They use Rifle Ammunition and Roaring Gun Ammunition, which has innate Piercing Projectiles and no damage drop off. This page covers a full list of Rifles in Nioh 2 and information about their stats.

Rifles are a middle of the road option between Bows and Hand Cannons in several respects. They are louder than bows but not as loud as cannons, making them a solid choice for opening a fight with a powerful bullseye attack. They don't require much build dedication to maintain respectable damage per shot compared to the Bow, but it doesn't have the potential damage per second that the bow has or the large variety of set bonuses, equipment and items dedicated to it. It does, however, still excel in these aspects over the Hand Cannon. Rifle damage falls off over long distances, like the Bow and unlike the Hand Cannon, but using Roaring Gun Ammunition removes this downside at the cost of being rare and slowing the Rifle's speed. Ultimately it is a stronger ranged option than the Bow in terms of single shot damage for those not wanting to fully dedicate their build for ranged weapons and mainly use them for sniping weak enemies but still want mobility to make counter sniping other ranged enemies easier.
Below is a list of Rifles in Nioh 2, and each Rifle has an effect that will ALWAYS be present, no matter what other random bonuses there may be. These effects are listed in the "effect" column. Damage values are not listed since these change by rarity and level, making it difficult to compare them easily. Break and Block are listed, since these do not change with rarity or level.
Every Weapon in the game has Familiarity. The better quality of the weapon, the more Familiarity can be obtained with the weapon, and over time the damage and bonuses of the weapon will improve as the Familiarity increases up to a maximum. This way, using the same weapon over time can yield higher damage than another, even if it's lower level.

I really wish we were able to get those dual guns that the Saika use
Do rifles have some special damage bonus? I switched to a bow that says it deals more damage (even considering bullseye bonus), yet when I shoot humans in the head the rifle pretty much ALWAYS does more damage for some reason.
