Saigyo is an NPC in Nioh 2. NPCs are characters that can be interacted with or are shown in the game. NPCs are characters that add contrast to the game's lore where they provide information, some are categorized as quest givers, while others are categorized as Merchants whom you can trade with or request for certain services.
Saigyo Information
- He was once Sato Norikiyo, a warrior who served the Japanese nobility. At the age of 23, he became a monk and composed at least two thousand poems as he wandered Japan. Many of his poems are about cherry blosoms and the moon, as evidenced by his poem anthology, the Sankashu, which contains over a hundred poems related to such imagery
- Saigyo's work is very welll-known in Japan, and cards inscribed with his poems can be found scattered all over the country.
The protagonist, who has collected some of these cards, happens to save Saigyo from yokai in a place famous for its cherry blossoms. Saigyo recites the following: "Let me die in spring under the blossoming trees... Let it be under a full moon in February." Saigyo thansk the protagonist and lend them some words of support for the long road that lies ahead.
