Sen no Rikyu is an NPC in Nioh 2. NPCs are characters that can be interacted with or are shown in the game. NPCs are characters that add contrast to the game's lore where they provide information, some are categorized as quest givers, while others are categorized as Merchants whom you can trade with or request for certain services.
Sen no Rikyu Information
Sen no Rikyu is a tea master who served Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and a former merchant of Sakai. He first studied the way of tea under Takeno Joo, and later came to be known as the "Saint of Tea".
Though he originally served Oda Nobunaga, he became a close adviser of Hideyoshi after Nobunaga's death. Both Nobunaga and Hideyoshi used the way of tea to achieve their political goals, which gave Rikyu a large amount of influence over many daimyo.
Aware of the dangers posed by Tokichiro's abuse of the Spirit Stones, Rikyu aids the protagonist in their quest to defeat Tokichiro. Tenkai, formerly known as Akechi Mitsuhide, acts as their intermediary.
When Tokichiro grows to suspect that Rikyu is assisting the protagonist, he locks Rikyu up in the garden of Jurakudai. By the time [the] protagonist infiltrates Jurakudai and finds him, it is already too late - Rikyu barely has the strength to go on. Rikyu delivers a final message to the protagonist before expiring.
