Shrines in Nioh 2 are special altars that players can interact with. Shrines act as checkpoints for the game, and praying at a shrine will, much like a bonfire for Dark Souls, reset the level and heal the player to full. Players can also use shrines to level up their Stats. Shrines are used to initiate an offering to invite other players into your world, and to customize Guardian Spirits.

Players should also look for spirits called Kodama which wander about the levels and can be guided back to a Shrine by holding circle. At the shrine they will then confer passive bonuses such as experience and gold gain, called Kodama Blessing.

Praying at a shrine will automatically purify Soul Cores held in your inventory.

Shrine Information

Nioh 2 Shrines are holy places where the gods gather. Properly paying respects there can greatly ease a player's burdens. The following are actions that a player can take when praying at a shrine:

Players can level up at the Shrine using Amrita. Levelling up allows you to improve yours stats.

You can call back the Guardian Spirit of a grave at your shrine itself, to avoid having to find your grave all over again. However doing this will eliminate the grave and all items held inside will be lost. To call back, you need to have the required amount of "Spirit".

Make Offering

You can offer items at the Shrine to receive Amrita. Making many offerings grants you Gifts, and unlocks Titles.

They are divided into 2 categories: Ninjutsu which are the weapon based arts, and Onmyo Magic which are elemental and spiritual realm arts. Each Jutsu has a cost that goes towards your Ninjutsu capacity and Onmyo capacity. You may only equip jutsus that have a total cost equal or lesser than their respective capacity.

Jutsus are unlocked from the Learn Skills screen. Ninjutsu are learned from the Ninja Skills section and cost Ninja Skill Points to learn and Onmyo Magic are learned from the Onmyo Magic Skills section and cost Onmyo Magic Skill Points to learn.

Kodama Bazaar

By offering up Divine Rice to the Kodama, you can receive items from their collections.  To access it, go to the make offering tab during a mission. The items in stock are only replenished if you have less than the stock amount in your inventory.
The first row of items are Elixirs, Ochoko Cups and the basic ammo types for all the ranged weapons. Pressing Triangle on these items will allow you to auto purchase them from the bazaar every time you visit it, if you don't have the max amount in your inventory, though the game prioritizes the storehouse if you have that option selected.
The third pool of items will become available as you find more Kodamas, and if connected to online, will be populated by Items used by other players in that mission.
If you access a shrine that was defiled by the dark realm, using the Kodama Bazaar while connected to online will allow you to purchase random equipment used by other players that completed the mission for gold and divine rice. Only five items per load can be purchased in this way, and you can skip the first four items by pressing triangle and spending 10 Divine Rice.
