Skills in Nioh 2 are used to perform stronger attacks, infusions or other types of magic. The skill system has been completely revamped from Nioh and tailored to better represent RPG games and facilitate builds. There is a skill tree for every weapon type, as well as for ninjutsu, onmyo magic, shifting skills and samurai skills. and they are subdivided into Active, Passive, Jutsu or Custom Active Skills. Their vast variety and application in many combat situations make them an indispensable part of character progression. You can view and edit the current assignments from the Skill Customization screen.
The weapon skills available in Nioh are learned using Skill Points, which are earned either by increasing Proficiency with that weapon or by using the locks of hair Items. Once learned, skills become part of the flow of combat as they are assigned to a specific button press and/or sequence, known as Command. Some skills are independent of weapon, like Grapple, Flux and Ki Pulse skills.
- You can ready Ninjutsu or Onmyo Magic skills at a shrine, and then assign them to shortcuts like items. Each type of skill has a limit to its number of uses, which can be increased by leveling "Dexterity" and "Magic".
- Custom Active Skills allows You to change the properties of your Active skills, such as doing more Ki damage or making them have elemental effects. These can be set in the Skill Customization menu.
- Earned Skill Points can be reset at the Dojo.

AnonymousI’ve just reached level 99 but still hadn’t noticed that you can customize active skills by pressing square in the menu. Most of these things I found on this website, but not this feature. Am I the only one who has missed this? (e.g. damage boost according to magic.)

I'm now in NG+ and see that my katana skill is maxed at Level 30. I can't see any opportunity to respec, which is really annoying, because you aren't able to unlock this way the whole tree (which would be fine, if you could respec). The special hairs for weapon skills seem to drop really, really rare (i believe i get one so far...in over 170h of playtime, lol). I love Nioh but this is really aweful! Or do i miss something?

I drop few skills on few boss, the counterstrike at the spear of Mataza is a true cheat. These dropable skills are really powerful.

Yeah, some bosses drop skills but they are pretty rare... I found a list on reddit of what some players have found until now.

You can apparently get skills as drops from some bosses. I beat the boss on The Hallow Fortress or whatever and he dropped a Dual Swords skill called Dragon Claw. It replaces your grapple with one that greatly increases your anima.

Are passive skills shared/work in all stances? For example in Low stance (Hatchets Skills) there is passive skill that gives some % of extra damage if you attack enemy from behind. Does that still work if I am in any other stance or only in Low stance?
