The Exceptional One's Cuirass is a Heavy Torso Armor in Nioh 2. Torso Armor protects the torso of the player and can have varying degrees of quality and level, just like Weapons. In addition, they can provide Toughness bonus, physical, and elemental protection to your character. Heavy Armor, Usually provides better protection, at the cost of movement and dodge speed. Toughness makes you deplete less Ki when Blocking, so if you wish to Block more often, consider wearing Armor that provides more. Usually the heavier Armor the better.
The Exceptional One's Cuirass Description
Body armor featuring a double-plated design with fastenings on the right side. Made from tiny inverted scales, the Shima family crest featuring oak leaves is emblazoned at its center. The sleeves are molded plates which aid maneuverability, whilst still presenting the look of heavy armor. This set of armor was owned by Shima Sakon, the tactician who served Ishida Mitsunari. Sakon was a man who possessed keen intelligence, his tactics keeping Tokugawa Ieyasu in check. As a military commander, he was both courageous and wise, and touted as being "too good for Mitsunari." The navy blue thread binding on the black lacquer scales are meant to be a reflection of Sakon's intelligence and fidelity.
