So, it seems there's a band of thieves that have made themselves a base in the forest. They used to terrorize the nearby villages until one day their raids just suddenly stopped.

Of course, if they've packed up and left then there's nothing to fret over, but there's something else going on here. And don't worry, even if they're still around, they won't be a match for you. Come on, let's get going!

So it seems there are others out there after Spirit Stones...

Well, for whatever reason, they seem to have turned into monsters, and I guess after that, hunting Spirit Stones were probably the last thing on their minds.

Anyway, if we have business rivals out there, we'll have to be more careful. We're gonna need to stay one step ahead of 'em and make a name for ourselves fast.

Kodama Locations

• The first Kodama can be found near the huge tree that has glowing mushrooms around surrounding it. The Kodama is just at the right-side corner of the tree behind a glowing mushroom.
• The second Kodama is hiding behind an open large chest near a house that has another large chest that can be looted.

The Forest Veiled in Darkness Walkthrough

Upon starting the mission, you'll find a Kodama Shrine at the starting point and Tokichiro. Speak to Tokichiro and he'll tell you to hurry up and grab the Spirit Stones.

The majority of the enemies here are human bandits and some Yokai. From Tokichiro's position, go right and you'll encounter an archer. Killing him will drop some gold, amrita, and an Arrow.

Next, go right towards a wooden bridge then make your way towards a huge tree that has glowing mushrooms that are surrounding it, there's a dead body that you can loot and just at the right corner of the tree before the body, you'll find a lost Kodama. Interact with it to guide it back to the shrine then loot the dead body - you can also run to the top of the tree where you'll find 2 dead bodies, one containing x1 Small Spirit Stone, and the other x1 Prayer Beads and x1 Lantern Plant Fruit, just be careful not to fall.

Now, go back down and turn right, you'll find two bandits in the area, one patrolling and another standing with its back facing you. Killing them may have a chance to drop Elixir and Stone. After killing them, continue to go right until you come across another wooden bridge that has another Archer guarding the spot, kill it then loot the dead body behind him to get more Arrow and a Longbow, just below the bridge there are two more bandits patrolling the area, you can execute a drop attack to surprise them - one wields a sword and the other is a spear.

Head back to where you found the first Kodama, and by the opposite of the huge tree, you'll find a dead body resting by the trunk of another tree as well as a bandit that's sitting. Loot the dead body to grab x1 Sacred Water then kill the bandit. After that's done, you'll notice that a tree next to the bandit was used as a campfire. You can interact with it and knock it down. 

You'll see another bandit guarding the nearby house. Kill him, then head inside the house and open the large chest to obtain a couple of items and gear.

The second and last Kodama for this sub-mission is also nearby. Just outside the house, you'll see an open large chest. You'll find the Kodama hiding behind it - after guiding the Kodama back to the shrine, make your way up the slope where you'll encounter another bandit wielding a sword.

Just about midway the slope, there's also a path to your left and you'll see another bandit that's looting a dead body from below. You can surprise him with a drop attack that can insta-kill him or takes a huge chunk of his HP away. The bandit may drop x1 Leather Platelet ant looting the corpse gives you another Sacred Water - continue going straight and you'll encounter an Archer that will see you immediately.

Try to kill the archer first with your bow, then turn left until you reach a dead-end where you'll find another corpse sitting against the wall. Loot the body to obtain x1 Herbal Remedy - after that's done, head back down towards the huge tree with the glowing mushrooms on it where you'll encounter a spear-wielding bandit.

From the huge tree, go left and you'll see another bandit looting a dead body that's on the left-hand side. Kill the bandit for a chance to drop x1 Gunpowder Bomb x1 Mino Uchigatana, and x1 Ronin's Waistguard. Also, search the dead body to find x1 Antiparalyctiuc Needle and x1 Arrow.

Next, continue going straight, and you'll encounter a couple of things. There's a Kodama Shrine that's on the left side, a bandit that's sleeping and seems to be hiding at the bushes, and another archer bandit that's on high-ground to your right - kill the nearby enemies, then pray at the shrine to replenish your items and unlock it as a checkpoint.

From the shrine, go back and head up the slope that has some glowing mushrooms where you'll encounter another bandit wielding dual swords. After killing the enemy, walk up a bit and you'll see a small chest to your left, open it and you'll find x1 Spirit Stone, x1 Sacred Water, and x1 Night Raider Greaves. Follow the marker from your mini-map and continue heading to the top until you reach the objective.

As soon, as you walk up the middle, a Gaki will appear and you'll be locked in the area until you kill the source of the Dark Field. Two to three Gaki's will appear first, then after killing the last Gaki, the Dark Field will appear and you'll face an empowered Enki. Successfully killing the source which is the Enki drops multiple items such as x1 Oak Hammer, Elixir, x1 Ronin Greaves, x1 Yoriki Waistguard, x1 Enki Pelt, a Longbow, x1 Night Raider Waistguard, and x1 Enki Soul Core, as well as completing the sub-mission.
