The Frenzied Blaze
Mission Start Text
Hey, it's a letter from Tokichiro from the capital.
...Wait, what? One of Nobunaga's retainers has turned against him and launched an assault on Honnoji where Nobunaga is staying! We'll have to leave our forces here to hold off the advances from the west, but the two of us must hurry to Nobunaga's side at once!
Mission End Text
it is a real shame we didn't make it in time. But the way you managed to take down that yokai in the midst of those roaring flames...? Well, you never cease to amaze me.
I still cannot believe the great Oda clan could be toppled so swiftly, and it looks like Akechi's troops have seized the capital. What you do next is entirely up to you, of course, but you don't strike me as the kind to leave a debt of gratitude unpaid.
Right now though, without our army and Tokichiro nowhere to be seen, we are very much at a disadvantage.
Kodama Locations
- In the first section where you encounter the first few enemies inside the first house and by a tree. Go left and check the corner of the house where you'll find a dead-end. There's a Gaki standing at the corner and behind it is the Kodama.
- The second Kodama can be found standing next to the gate on the right side that was being guarded by a Koroka in the first dark realm you encounter.
- The third Kodama can be found near the second shrine. After killing the two dwellers along the path, turn right and go through the flames where you'll encounter an Ubume on the other side. After killing it, climb up the ladder to reach the rooftops
- The fourth Kodama can be found near the second shrine. From the nearby house, from the front entrance, go around the corner of the right, you'll find it at the end of the walkway.
- Check the house on the left side where you encounter Yasuke. Go inside the house and kill the three Yokai in it. Check the right side corner where you'll find the fifth Kodama.
- The sixth Kodama is behind the Nurikabe wall on the right that's inside the opposite house from where you found the fifth Kodama. There's a walkway connecting to both houses on the left side where you found the fifth Kodama.
- The seventh Kodama can be found in the second dark realm. Go around the back of the house that's engulfed with blue flames inside. You'll see a small garden at the end where you'll encounter a Wheelmonk. If you have enough elixir, you can run through the blue flames where you'll find the Kodama on the other side next to the bamboo fences.
- The last Kodama for this mission can be found on the left side corner near the door that leads to the boss.
Sudama Locations
- From the second shrine, climb up the ladder of the house to reach the rooftop that's around the corner on the right side. Maneuver your way around the flames and kill the two Dweller that's on top, just before reaching the other side of the rooftop, there's some debris on the left side that you can walk onto. You'll find the Sudama on the rooftop of another house.
- Find the Nurikabe yokai wall which can be found inside a house near the NPC who joins your party. In the section behind the Nurikabe, climb up the ladder and work your way around the rooftops where you'll come across a burning house at the end of the path. Douse yourself with the water inside the large bucket near the side entrance of the burning house then cross the flames to the front entrance of it. Once you're outside, check the right side corner, you'll find the second Sudama there.
Scampuss Locations
- Head to the courtyard where you'll see blue flames. After killing the Wheelmonk and Koroka in the area, check the east side of the courtyard and you'll see a house and a yokai mist inside of it. Just outside the house, check the corner and you'll see the Scampuss there.
- The second Scampuss can easily be found around the corner of the section behind the Nurikabe yokai wall. The house where you find the Nurikabe is near the friendly NPC who joins your party.
- You won't miss the third Scampuss. From the area that was engulfed with the second dark realm, it's past the area where you encounter a Koroka after fighting the Ippon-Datara.
Locks Locations
- Ninja's Locks can be located in a room that you can jump down into from the rooftop of the house near the second shrine where the first Sudama is found.
- Onmyo Mage's Locks can be looted from a corpse. The body can be found near a house where you encounter human enemies. To get there, you'll have to find the Nurikabe yokai wall so that you can find the path that leads to the said section. The Nurikabe wall can be found inside the house near the friendly NPC that joins your party.
Spa Locations
- Head to the section past the Nurikabe wall which can be found inside the house near the friendly NPC that joins your party. The hot spring is just past them around the corner on the right.
The Frenzied Blaze Walkthrough
First Shrine: Starting Area
Players arrive at an underground path of Honnoji, go straight and climb up the ladder where you'll emerge outside the burning temple and the first shrine. The door that's on the left side of the shrine is locked which you'll need to open from the other side, so take the path on the right side and head up the planks and debris. Since the majority of the area and paths are covered in flames, you'll want to try and avoid it since it can burn and damage you, and if ever you are caught in the flames, there are buckets around the area that you can break to douse yourself with the water in it or use it to safely cross towards the flames. Despite that, you can also use it to your advantage and draw enemies into the flames that also burns and damages them. Once you've dropped down onto temple grounds, go straight and kill the mage and sword-wielding soldier inside the house. On the left exit of the house, you'll also see another soldier sitting against the tree and a spear-wielding soldier that's patrolling - from the tree, go left and you'll find another soldier patrolling and two more inside the house ahead. Kill the soldiers, then go inside the house and you'll find a large chest that you can open.
Now, the first Kodama is nearby, go outside the house, and check the left side corner of it. You'll see a Gaki that's standing by the corner, kill it, and you'll find the Kodama behind the yokai. After finding the Kodama, go towards the path where the spear-wielding soldier was patrolling near the same house and you'll find the locked door that you can now open that leads back to the first shrine - on the left side of the door you just unlocked, there's a body that you can loot.
Next, from the shortcut, turn around and go straight and you'll see an archer ahead. Kill him, then head onto the plank that leads to the courtyard of the temple where you'll see some blue flames. There's a Warrior Skeleton yokai ahead. Now, you'll need to take care of the blue flame, and to do that, just kill the source of it which is a Wheelmonk. You can find it roaming around the area straight ahead of you, apart from the Wheelmonk, there's also a Koroka in the middle of the area next to the tree that's disguised as a stone lantern, remember, shoot it with your ranged weapon while it's in its stone lantern form. Once you've killed the Wheelmonk, the blue flame disappears. Go straight and at the end of the debris, there's a body on the right side that you can loot and a house on the left that has a small chest inside. There's an Oni-bi and Warrior Skeleton that you'll encounter inside the house. There's also a path on the left side near the house that leads to the backside of it where you'll see a yokai mist and another locked door at the end that can only be opened from the other side. The yokai within it is a large Warrior Skeleton
Before you head to the west gate that was blocked by the blue flames, check the east side of the courtyard and you'll see a house and a yokai mist inside of it. Outside the house, around the corner, you'll find the first Scampuss for this mission. Pet the Scampuss then head inside the house and fight the large Gaki that's within the mist. After killing the Gaki, loot the body that's inside the house as well, then head to the backside of the house from the door that's on the left side of the house. You'll find another body that you can loot, and the path ahead just circles around near the starting area - once you've cleared the area, go back to the courtyard and head to the west gate.
Courtyard: West Gate
Past the west gate, you'll see another house in front of the gate. Inside, there are some large red barrels and a body that you can loot. Ready your bow and shoot the barrels, there's a Dweller hiding behind it on the left side, and another on the right that has an explosive barrel stapped on its back. Make sure to shoot it and kill as fast as you can before it runs towards you and blows itself up. After clearing the house, go outside from the left that leads to the backside of it. You'll see a Rokurokubi and a Gaki that's feeding on a corpse that you can loot, there's another body as well that you can loot on the left side behind the bamboo walls. Kill both yokai, loot the bodies, go straight and you'll find the entrance of the Dark Realm.
Inside the Dark Realm, the first yokai you'll come across is a large Warrior Skeleton. You can easily draw it out of the Dark Realm to your advantage. After killing it go straight, and you'll see a house that has a large chest inside it. Ignore it for now since you can't open it until you dispel the dark realm. Keep going forward and you'll see another Rokurokubi patrolling. The left side where the Rokurokubi was is blocked by the flames, but on the right side, you'll find the locked door that you can now open that leads back to the courtyard.
Open the door, then at the end of the path on the right, there's a ladder that you can climb to get on the rooftop. At the top, go straight and you'll see a large bucket of water. Be ready to dodge because there's a Gaki waiting to ambush you that's at the corner near the bucket. After killing the Gaki, kick the bucket down to extinguish the flames below. Jump back down, and kill the rest of the Gaki before the Koroka which is the source of the dark realm
After killing the Koroka, open the gate near the Koroka, don't go in first, but check the left side of the area that leads to the backside of the house that has a large chest inside, you'll see a swarm of butterflies that temporarily imbues your weapon with ice for a short period of time when you touch it. There's another Gaki at the corner of the house, kill it, climb up the ladder behind the Gaki and loot the body that's on the rooftop, then head inside the house and open the large chest.
After you've cleared the area, go through the gate that you just opened, turn right and you'll immediately see the second Kodama standing next to the gate. Once you've guided it back to the shrine, continue forward and you'll find the second shrine for this mission.
Second Shrine: Inner Section
From the second shrine, you'll find another two doors on the left that are locked. There's also a well that you can hit to obtain an item. As you continue down the path, there are two Dwellers carrying an explosive barrel that you'll encounter, one by the corner that's on the right and another feeding on a corpse that's ahead near the tree. Kill both Yokai and turn right where you'll see a line of fire that's blocking the path ahead. You can run across it and on the other side, you'll encounter an Ubume by the corner of a house. After killing it, open the large chest, then climb up the nearby ladder. Walk to the right side and then drop onto the roof below you where you'll find the third Kodama.
After finding the Kodama, retrace your steps and you'll see another house on the left that has another yokai mist inside of it. Before you head inside, go around the front entrance of the house on the right, and you'll find the fourth Kodama at the end of the walkway
After guiding it back to the shrine, head inside the burning house and you'll see that there are some blue flames, another Warrior Skeleton, and a large chest inside as well. The yokai within the mist is another Wheelmonk that you need to kill the extinguish the blue flames. After killing the yokai and opening the chest, there's an opening on the left side that you can exit to where you'll find a locked door that you can now open that leads back to the second shrine. After unlocking the door, go back to the entrance of the house go around the corner where you'll find a ladder that leads to the rooftop.
Maneuver your way around the flames and kill the two Dweller that's on the rooftop as well. Before you climb down the ladder on the other side of the rooftop, there's some debris that you can walk onto where you'll find the first Sudama on the rooftop of another house. Apart from that, there's an opening nearby that you can drop down onto a platform where you'll find 1x Ninja's Locks - after trading with the Sudama and grabbing the locks, go back to the rooftop, head to the opposite ladder and climb down where you'll see a friendly NPC standing by the entrance of the second dark realm.
A Helping Hand
Speak to the NPC and he'll join forces with you as a companion. Before you head inside the Dark Realm, there's another house on the left that you can check where you'll encounter a Gaki and a Rokurokubi. Outside of the house, on the walkway, there's a Warrior Skeleton.
Kill the enemies first, and inside the house on the right side corner, you'll find the fifth Kodama. Make sure to also loot the corpse - after clearing the house, exit the door on the left, head out the walkway and go in the house on the other side where you'll encounter another Ubume within a yokai mist and a locked door that you can now open that leads back to the second shrine.
If you check the wall of the house on the right, you'll see that it's a fake wall and it's a Nurikabe yokai. Kill it or pacify with a gesture so that you can pass. Just behind it on the right side, you'll find the sixth Kodama there.
The second Scampuss is also found around the corner of the section that was behind the Nurikabe yokai wall. After you find the Scampuss, there's a ladder nearby that you can climb to get to the rooftop. While you're at the top, make use of the high-ground and kill the soldiers that are below you. After clearing the area of enemies, go straight from the rooftops until you reach another ladder, climb down and you'll see a corpse that you can loot containing 1x Onmyo Mage's Locks. Inside that burning house, there's also a large chest that you can open.
After opening the chest and grabbing the locks, break the large bucket that's nearby and douse yourself with the water in it. Now, walk through the flames and head outside from the front door of the house. You'll see another house in front, and just around the corner of it, on the right, you'll find the second Sudama. The house near the Sudama, there's a Rokurokubi and soldier inside, as well as another large chest - after that's done, go back to where you met the friendly NPC and head inside the dark realm.
Inside the dark realm, there will be blue flames around. So apart from finding the source of the dark realm, you also need to kill the yokai controlling the blue flames to extinguish it. By the entrance, on the left side, there's a KoKorokaroka in its stone lantern form, shoot it with your rifle to stun it then finish it off. Ahead of the Koroka, there's a Warrior Skeleton wielding a rifle standing on top of the debris and planks. Since the path ahead is blocked by the blue flames, go around the house on the right and you'll find a Wheelmonk yokai.
Before you climb up the ladder of the house, if you go straight towards the small garden, you'll see that it's blocked by the blue flames. If you have enough elixir, you can dash through the flames where you'll find the seventh Kodama by the bamboo fences on the other side of it. After grabbing the Kodama, go back, climb up the ladder, and go straight from the walkway of the rooftops. You'll see the Wheelmonk which is the source of the blue flames as well as the dark realm in the middle section of the area below you - after killing it, you can now go inside the house that was filled with the blue flames and you can open the large chest that's inside.
Since the blue flames and dark realm is gone, you can continue further where you'll encounter a roaming Ippon-Datara. Ahead of it, there's a large opening on the wall where you'll encounter another Koroka as well as the third Scampuss - after clearing the area, you'll want to go back to the house where you encountered the Nurikabe yokai wall and continue exploring the section ahead.
When you reach the inner section. There's a path on the left and right from where the second Sudama was found. The path on the left obviously leads to the marked destination and into the third dark realm, so check the path on the right side first where you'll encounter another Rokurokubi and an axe-wielding soldier. Just past them and around the corner on the right, you'll find the Spa (Hot Spring) - you'll want to use the hot spring before you head to the path leading to the third dark realm.
Inside the dark realm, you'll encounter an Onyudo yokai. Kill it then continue forward where you'll find the source of the blue flames around the area which is the Wheelmonk. Before you fight the Wheelmonk, shoot down the Warrior Skeleton that's standing on the debris on the right. From where the Wheelmonk was, turn right and you'll see the third shrine and a path that leads to a corner where you'll find the source of the Dark Realm which is the Ippon-Datara. - kill it to dispel the dark realm, open the large chest near it, then pray at the third shrine.
From the third shrine, just open the door next to it which leads to the entrance of the marked destination where the boss of this mission is found. There's also another door on the left that you can open and by which the NPC will leave your party. Also, before you open the large door leading to the boss, make sure to check the corner on the left to find the last Kodama for this mission - if you're ready, open the large doors to fight the boss.
Boss Battle: Kasha
Before the battle starts, a cutscene will trigger where you'll find Saito Toshimitsu who seems to be the one responsible for destroying the temple. Kasha then appears, and the battle against the flame feline yokai will begin.
You'll notice that Kasha is riding on two big wheels which allows her to run around you in circles or towards you. And wherever she goes, she'll leave a trail of flame on the ground, she wields a flame whip making her even more dangerous and quite a challenge to fight. You'll want to head into the battle prepared with having a Firestop Talisman in your inventory which increases your resistance against fire. Unlocking the skill Firebreak in the Onmyo Magic Skill tree will help increase your resistance as well. Make sure you also have enough Daion-Jin's Sake which you can use to douse yourself with just in case you start to get the burn effect.
Once she enters the dark realm, you'll want to dodge the trail of flame that she leaves since it turns into blue flames which deals more damage if you are caught. Apart from that, she'll also summon two Gaki, you'll want to kill the Gaki first since they have less health and deal more damage compared to the ordinary Gaki. To learn more about how to defeat this boss, click here or check the video guide below.
Successfully defeating the Kasha completes the mission - at the end of the cutscene for this mission, you'll also be possessed and obtain Lady Oichi's Guardian Spirit: Nine Tails.

The final Kodama is hiding beyond the first door to the boss. The door next to the third shrine is not actually the boss door.
I hope you will not have to suffer the same way I did.

thank god for the map, while i had no problem finding everything in previous levels, here i can't even find the way to progress

To find the ninja locks, work your way to the roof above the wheelmonk as described in the walkthrough. The opening is actually directly above where the wheelmonk spawns, about halfway between the dwellers and the Sudama.
It's not a "room," so much as broken part of the roof's eaves that has the lockes perched on it.

For those who only utilize the map for Kodamas; 3rd Kodama is not shown on the map. Look at the "The third Kodama~" sentence in the Kodama Locations paragraph to find it.
