Hey, someone left a weird message when we weren't looking Let's see... It seems like someone's scratched some words onto a leaf with a stone: "WANT... FRIEND... LOOK." Their handwriting is terrible, so I wondered if it was some kid playing a joke. Anyway, here you go. I'll leave it to you to figure this one out.

Looks like you managed to find the companions of whoever sent that note without any problem. Actually, they sent another message to say thanks. "HAPPY... FRIENDS... RETURNED..." Their handwriting's still terrible. Well, at least they're happy. And that's what really matters right?

Kodama Locations

• The first Kodama can be found in the dark realm near the starting point. After killing the Ippon-Datara, cross the small wooden bridge then go left towards the wooden boats. You'll find a Gaki and some wooden boxes, the Kodama is in between them. Kill the Gaki first so you can guide it back.
• The second Kodama can be found in the second dark realm. You'll find it next to an Enki that's looking at it.
• The last Kodama can be found in the second dark realm, it's standing on the edge of a set of planks where you'll find an area filled with Jizo statues and tombstones, as well as a Nure-Onna.

Sudama Locations

• The first Sudama can be found on the rooftop of a tall house where the Gaki and Nure-Onna are. The house is inside the Dark Realm near the starting point.
• (Must kill the source of the Dark Realm first) At the starting point where the Dark Realm was, the second Sudama can be found outside the corner of the house where you encounter an Enki and Gaki. From where you fought the Ippon-Datara in the first Dark Realm, cross the small bridge, go straight, and you'll find the house that has fish and vegetables outside. There's a barn next to it that you can use to get to the back.
• The third Sudama can be found standing by the edge of a broken bridge, the path is behind one of the houses where you opened the large chest that was locked by the force of the Dark Realm.
• The fourth Sudama can be found in the second Dark Realm at the back of the house where the Ippon-Datara was. The Sudama is guarded by a Gaki and is standing by the edge.

The Search Walkthrough

From the starting point, you'll see Tokichiro up ahead, before approaching him, look to your right, there's a short path where you'll find a corpse that you can loot. Speak to Tokichiro then use the Kodama shrine if needed. There's also a Kodama near Tokichiro that you can speak to - the gate that's on the left side is locked, so proceed to the path that's on the right

Starting Point: Dark Realm

From the first Kodama shrine, you'll find part of the village ahead is engulfed with the Dark Realm. Head inside, find and kill the source of the Dark Realm. As soon as you enter, there's a Gaki to your right inside a house. There's a corpse that's against the wall of that house which you can loot, and another inside the opposite house.

After checking the first two houses, go back outside then look to the tall house ahead. You'll see a Gaki that's on the rooftop, ready your bow and shoot it to stop it from throwing bombs at you. After killing the Gaki, go straight and inside that house, walk slowly and you'll find a Nure-Onna inside. You can attack her from behind while it's unaware. There's also a body in front of her that's by the edge that you can loot.

Climb up the ladder to where the Gaki was and you'll find a Sudama on the rooftop. You can drop any item or equipment that you want in exchange for some valuable or unique items. After that's done, go back down and kill the Ippon-Datara that's blocking the path ahead.

Once you've killed the Ippon-Datara, cross the bridge, go right first and you'll find a small chest. After opening it, turn around and walk over the wooden boats, you'll find another Gaki here. Attack it from behind to knock it off-balance then kill it with a finisher.

You'll find the first Kodama that's in between the Gaki and the wooden boxes, interact with it to guide it back to the shrine. Up ahead, you'll find a Nure-Onna that's roaming around, that's the source of the Dark Realm and you'll need to kill her to dispel the field - killing her may also drop her soul core, the Nure-Onna Soul Core.

After killing the source, head to a house that's on the west side, you'll find a large chest inside that you can now open. You can obtain random weapons or armor pieces inside the chest.

You'll want to take the opportunity to clear out the area first that's filled with Yokai, there are some Gaki that's on the rooftops. From the house where you opened the chest, go outside, head straight until you see a house on the left that has some fish hanging outside and some vegetables. There's a Gaki and Enki inside the house, try to bait out the Gaki first before you kill the Enki to avoid being ganged up. When you've killed both yokai, head inside the house and you'll find a small chest.

At that same house, outside the left side corner, you'll find the second Sudama. There's a backside door that you can go to from the barn that's next to it, there's just a Gaki that's waiting behind as well. Once you've killed the Gaki, make the trade with the Sudama to obtain some valuable items.

After finding the second Sudama, go back, but instead of going through the barn, you can drop down to your right and go around the front of the other house. Keep going straight and up the steps where you'll encounter another Gaki. After killing the Gaki, turn left and you'll see a corpse that's against a gate. Loot the corpse, then walk up to the broken bridge, you'll find the third Sudama standing by the edge.

From where you saw the third Sudama, go back down the slope, then turn right as you approach the house. You'll find another large chest that you can open at the corner. After opening the chest, break through the nearby boxes and cross the bridge that's on your right. You'll find the locked gate that you can now open for a shortcut back to the starting point and there's a small chest near the gate as well.

Once you've opened the gate, go east, then turn right at the first corner, you'll see another Gaki that's eating. Kill it, then approach the corpse that's on the edge of the broken bridge, you can search it to grab some loot. After looting, continue forward and you'll see another Gaki that's on high-ground ahead you, read your bow and shoot it before it throws out rocks or bombs at you. The objective is on the left side towards another Dark Realm, but if you want to collect more Amrita, Gold, and for some loot, you'll find two more Gaki on the right side that's by a dead-end.

Second Dark Realm

When you enter the Dark Realm, you'll see another house to your left, and a path that goes around to your right where an Enki is patrolling. Killing the Enki may drop Enki Pelt and Enki Soul Core. Once you've killed the Enki, go straight instead of going around and back to the house, and you'll see a Gaki that's standing by the edge. You can knock it off balance while it's standing with its back facing you then kill it off with a finisher while it recovers.

As you loot the corse that's by the edge, you'll see another Enki that's looking at a Kodama which is the second lost Kodama. You can try to shoot it from above since it won't be able to chase after you. And after a while, it will ignore you and look at the Kodama again. After killing the Enki, guide the Kodama back to the shrine.

Once you've guided the Kodama, go back up to the house and you'll see another Gaki that's looking at a Jizo statue outside the house. Kill it first, then head inside the house where you'll find another Ippon-Datara which is the source of the Dark Realm - killing it will dispel the field and may also drop its soul core, Ippon-Datara Soul Core apart from random items.

Investigate the house where the Ippon-Datara was and head to the back, you'll find another Gaki that you can easily kill, and just in front of it is the fourth Sudama. After killing the Gaki and interacting with the Sudama, look behind you and you'll see a large chest behind the house.

After that's done, go back to the front of the house, turn right where you'll see an area filled with Jizo Statues, tombstones, and another Nure-Onna. After killing her, walk up a bit, and at your left, you'll see a set of planks and the third Kodama, before approaching it, go straight, and go right and up the slope where you'll find another large chest that you can open. When that's done, approach the third Kodama to guide it back to the shrine and to end this sub-mission.
