The Tale of the Taira

Mission Start Text

"You remember Yashima, do you not? The place you first met Yoshitsune? It seems that even now with the coast deserted, mysterious music can be heard sometimes, mingling with the sound of the waves. At least, so the rumours say. Curious goings-on are your specialty, so what say we go and take a look?"

Mission End Text

"So it seems that the hatred and resentment that consumed the Taira did indeed turn them into yokai. The story of the clan's rise and tragic fall now rings out in the songs of minstrels in the streets. They may have been our enemy, but still, it is sad to see them reduced to the state. I only hope that thanks to you, they can find peace at last."

The Tale of the Taira Walkthrough

First Shrine

Upon starting the side mission, you'll arrive back on one of the ships on the battlefield of Yashima and you'll see the first Kodama Shrine at the starting point. There's rubble that you can use to climb to get to the upper deck near the kodama shrine. At the top, you'll see a yokai mist that's blocking a hole on the ground.

The main goal for this mission is to fight and survive hostile remnants of fallen warriors and yokai that spawn on the upper deck. The Yokai that will spawn here is Warrior Skeleton, Aberrant Soldier, Lesser Umi-bozu. After you defeat the last remnant and the Lesser-Umi-bozu, the boss for this sub-mission will appear.

Boss: Taira no Kagekiyo

The boss that you'll need to fight here is a remnant of Taira no Kagekiyo. He wields two swords which makes him a bit agile and allows him to unleash fast attacks. Apart from that, a few yokai will also aid him in battle such as the Bakegani. Remember always to take out the yokai first before shifting your attention to the boss.

Although the boss is a remnant, luckily, you can still fight him and treat it like any boss battle against a human. It's best that if you dodge his attacks and position yourself near him, unleash a flurry of attacks in order to quickly deplete his stamina and eventually breaking it to stagger him for a short duration. Using any abilities that is associated with Lightning will also stun him or interrupt his attacks.

Once you've defeated him, pick up the loot it drops and then jump down into the room below you from the hole on the ground that was previously blocked. As soon as you drop down, you'll see the source of the hostile remnants and the music that's still playing which is the Biwa Boku-boku yokai, kill it, and the Oni-bi that appears to complete this sub-mission.

I shot the Biwa from above through the railings, it's possible, although somehow i can't shoot the weak spot (the biwa instrument) even though the reticle shows that i can shoot it but at least i can shoot the old guy, 4 quick shots and he's dead.

I hate this mission so much
        Now lemme talk tactics
first remnant uses a hammer, easy to beat and to punish, you get enough time to beat the skeletons
second is what i nicknamed "Switchglaive devil", Fast as ****, hard to punish, the soldiers definitly gets in your way. Pop any defense you got on em or you'll be ****ed, unless you are godly with an op build and in that case why are you on the wiki
Third uses an odachi, harder than hammer and easier than switchglaive, take care of the bozu or they will overwhelm you, otherwise it should be rather easy.
For the boss? the wiki explains it well.
worth mentionning that there is no checkpoint at any point, if you die at the boss when he has low health you go back at the beginning.
        Have fun.
