Enemy Description

Maeda Keiji is a Sengoku era military commander from Owari province (present-day Aichi prefecture). Keiji is actually his nickname, and his real name is Toshimasu. Originally born into the Takigawa family, he was adopted by Maeda Toshiie's older brother, making him Maeda Toshiie's nephew.

In his later years, he left the Maeda clan and settled into a quiet and comfortable life in the capital, devoting himself to poetry and literature. He became acquainted with other prominent cultured individual, and was said to be particularly close to Naoe Kanetsugu, a samurai of the Uesugi clan.

Reuniteed with the protagonist thanks to Toshiie, Keiji has earned himself quite a reputation as an eccentric. He invites the protagonist to join him on a yokai hunt, and after their success challenges them to a duel. Upon defeat, Keiji deems the protagonist the strongest warrior in all of Japan, but vows to become strong and claim the title for himself.

How to Beat Maeda Keiji

Maeda Keiji Boss Guide:

He isn't any more difficult or special compared to, say, any random spear revenant, aside from the increased health pool. Any normal powerful anti-human strategy (Poison, Paralysis, Confusion, Sloth/Lighting to make parrying easier, Lifesteal Talisman, Body Swap canceled into a yokai skill for unblockable damage) will work well here. He does use Spear Shove, so be mindful of it's high break and deceptive range, as well as Pole Kick's high Ki damage.

He uses Merciless Barrage has his grapple attack. It's ery slow, so him doing it too late to catch you winded is likely, but it's also unblockable, so dodge away as soon as you can.

Can someone change the goddamn picture already? If the editors on this site still think Mataza and Keiji are the same person, they’re just f*cking ignorant. They’re uncle and nephew. Alright? Not the same f*cking person.

I don’t count humans who fight normally as bosses. Even if defeating them will end the mission. In my opinion he’s no more than a mini-boss. Even if they have that big health-bar at the bottom of the screen. I’m sorry but he just doesn’t excite me during the fight. Its like fighting a gloryfied revenant.
