The Refined Man of the Underworld

Mission Start Text

It seems an old acquaintance of mine is the newest resident in hell. And what's worse, it seems he has taken some prized tea utensils with him.

For such a treasure to be confined to a place like that, without a tea house in sight, would be a tragic waste. Of course, I would love to go and get it myself. but I have heard that hell is... well, I have heard it's not very nice, being host to all manner of ghosts and friends.

But for a shiftling, with a flair for slaying those things, I imagine it would not be such a problem

Should you see fit to fetch the utensils for me, there will be a handsome reward waiting for you. Heh heh heh!

Mission End Text

Oh, this exquisite coloring! It is undoubtedly a masterpiece!

But it is rather unfortunate to have ended up in the bowels of hell. Well, if you will take the wrong path... Heh heh heh!

Anyway, you really do have a way with the sword there. I trust I shall have the pleasure of seeing you in action again someday.

The Refined Man of the Underworld Walkthrough

2 against 1

starting-point-the-refined-man-of-the-underworld-nioh-2-wiki-guide-600px

For this mission, there are no shrines or any collectibles in the area. The goal is to simply defeat the boss of this mission, so make sure to make further preparations before starting. Players arrive in Yomotsuhira, an underground spring where they'll see many bloody graves around the area.

When you walk to the middle of the area, a Gaki will first spawn, followed by an Enki. And after a short while, the boss for this mission, the Gozuki will appear. It has the same set of moves and attacks just like the first encounter in the sub mission: A Voice in the Twilight and the main mission: The Village of Cursed Blossoms. It's recommended that you have a Paralytic Groundfire Ninjutsu to set traps that stun the Gozuki when it walks onto it. But don't use it yet, since you'll need it later on!

Although it may seem like an easy battle since at this point, you are at a high player level and the Gozuki is pretty much the same, once it health reaches about 30-20%, it summons the Mezuki to fight alongside it. The Mezuki is the first boss you fight in the main mission: The Village of Cursed Blossoms. When this happens, set the stun traps so that either one of them gets stunned. Make sure you focus on killing the Gozuki first because it's the one that has low health. When that's done, you can focus on the Mezuki, just take note that it can conjure the dark realm. To learn more about the Gozuki, click here and for more tips on defeating the Mezuki, click here. Or, you can also check our boss video guide for both yokai below - successfully killing the Gozuki and Mezuki completes this mission, you'll also obtain the Chinese Tea Vessel that Matsunaga Hisahide is asking for.

Surprisingly easy consider how much I struggled against them at the start of the game.
Guess it makes so much more difference now that you have much more Ki and a bunch of yokai abilities to spam them with like Ippon Datara bonk.
Even getting hit by Gozuki or Mezuki didnt do all that much dmg compared to regular enemies in main missions on the same region. Mezuki grab barely even did like a 3rd of my health.
