 The Sweet Scent of Plums

Mission Start Text

"That reminds me-- I heard there's a beautiful plum tree from the land of the Tang dynasty somewhere in the imperial palace grounds, Cherry blossoms are all well and good, but is there anything more delightful than a plum blossom, especially in the summer? The scent is enough to drive us of a feline persuasion to distraction. Who has need of catrip when there are plum blossoms to be had? Come, let's find that tree before some yokai tears it down."

Mission End Text

"Well well, Yasumasu truly cannot be underestimated So, he intended to give the plum blossoms to Izume Shikibu, the lady at court who has won his heart. Well, let us hope that the scent of the plum blossoms will lead the to an unforgettable summer."

The Sweet Scent of Plums Walkthrough

Heading to the Plum Blossoms

Start by interacting with the Shrine then go up the slope and talk to Fujiwara no Yasumasa to travel together. Stick to the right and fall at the end to get an item, then go back up and clear the area, killing the Sohaya Warrior, 2 Samurai Warriors and a Ninja. Follow the path up and kill the 2 Mages, Ninja and Sohaya Warrior there, grabbing the item next to the tree. Fall right next to the wall, kill the Samurai Warrior, get the item on a body and kill the Ninja by the slope. In the next area, kill the 2 Samurai Warriors and the Sohaya Warrior there and follow the path up. As you reach the end of the first slope, turn left and kill the Mage and Fox Spirit guarding 2 items and interact with the second Shrine. Follow the path and grab the Hand-picked Plum Blossoms by the tree. This will lock the area and a Yasha, an Underworld Soldier and a Oni-bi will spawn, followed by a Hellish Hag and 2 One-eyed Imps. Open the doors to the building, open the chest and go back down the slopes. An Aberrant Soldier, a Skeleton Warrior (Spear), and a Ubume will spawn, followed by another Aberrant Soldier, a Karakasa Umbrella, 2 Fox Spirits, and then a Kiryoki with 2 Bakeganis. After killing them, enter the building and you will find the third Shrine.

Inside the building

Turn left and kill the Bakegani and Karakasa Umbrella, and grab the chest at the end. Now go right and kill the Fox Spirit to get the item in the first room. Keep going through the rooms to find a Hellish Hag and Karakasa Umbrella in the second room, a Bakegani in the third room, and a Fox Spirit and Aberrant Soldier in the fourth room. In the fifth room, grab the item and go up the ladder, grab the item to the left and kill the Underworld Soldier. Follow the corridor to find a Biwa Boku-boku to the left, and go to the right balcony for an item and a Scampuss. Go to the next room to find a Kiryoki, a Fox Spirit and a chest. Fall through the hole and open the doors there to reach the courtyard. The following enemies will spawn: a Skeleton Warrior (Sword) and an Underworld Soldier, then a Skeleton Warrior (Bow) and a Kiryoki, then 3 Fox Spirits, a Ubume, and finally an Oboroguruma that will activate a Dark Realm, together with a Yasha and a Bakegani. Talk to Fujiwara no Yasumasa and give him the Hand-picked Plum Blossoms to end the mission.
