Could I ask you to retrieve the spear belonging to Mater Dosan, my departed father-in-law?

Yoshitatsu's soldiers are currently occupying the estate, but I refuse to sit by and let them defile such a meaningful keepsake.

Hidetatsu's Dying Wish Walkthrough

Players arrive deep in the mountains of Mino Province at the entrance of the Viper's Sanctum where you'll find the first Kodama shrine. You'll notice that the area has now changed where grass and flowers have grown. Basically, you'll need to head to the top area of the Viper's Sanctum and head towards the center house which you encountered back in The Viper's Sanctum main mission where you'll find Saito Dosan's spear. There are no Kodama, Sudama, Scampuss, Hot Springs, and Locks in the area. And the items that you loot from killed enemies, corpses, and chests are random. However, there is a dark realm at the mission's marked objective.

When you step outside, you'll see that the area ahead of you is swarming with Yoshitatsu's soldiers. The caves that are around the area are now blocked off, so you'll simply have to fight your way around the soldiers and head to the upper level of the sanctum.

When you reach the upper section, you'll encounter a Nure-Onna yokai, and after killing it, there will be a mist that's blocking the path ahead. Just before the mist, if you turn right and look over the edge, you'll see a Sudama  on the ledge below.  The Yokai within the mist is a One-eyed Oni, you'll have to face it to clear the path so that you can reach the second Kodama shrine. Once you've reached the shrine, continue forward and towards the house that's once again engulfed with the Dark Realm.

Center House: Dark Realm

When you reach the back of the center house, you'll see that there's a dark realm surrounding it. The yokai that are inside the house is are two Gaki, two Oni-bi, and a Yoki which is the source of the Dark Realm. After you've killed the Yoki the dark realm will disappear and you'll be able to retrieve Saito Dosan's spear that's inside the house. Before leaving the area, make sure you loot the bodies that are in the house to obtain some items. - collecting the item completes this mission.
