The Way of the Ninja: Novice is a Tutorial Mission in Nioh 2. This mission is recommended for level 1, and tasks players with completing the tutorial objective of using ninjutsu and managing Ninja Skills.

"Ha, you finally noticed? I've been stalking you for a while, and let me tell you, you left yourself wide open the whole time.

Whoa there! There's no need to look at me like that!

The name's Kato Danzo, I'm a ninja for hire, and it so happens that Tokichiro has paid me a tidy sum to train you. So how about it?"

"Hey, you're pretty quick on the uptake.

I'm glad because it's no fun when a student is completely useless. Now listen, I wasn't planning on sticking around after this, but I guess there's no harm in hanging around a little longer.

It's not every day you get to take on a yokai as a student, after all. This is sure to be fun, though naturally, I'll still be expecting Tokichiro to keep that money coming."

Walkthrough

When you start the mission, you'll arrive outside the grounds of an ancient temple and find Kato Danzo ahead. Walk up to the glowing item and pick up 1x Ninja's Locks. Open the menu, cycle through the items and use the Ninja's Locks. Next, you'll need to spend the skill point you obtained to learn a Ninja Skill. After unlocking a skill, use the shrine nearby, ready a ninjutsu, and assign it to your shortcut.  A ninja wielding dual wooden swords will appear, you'll have to defeat him and make sure to use your crafted ninjutsu against the enemy to complete this tutorial mission. Interact with the glowing orb to exit the mission.
