The Way of the Warrior: Novice is a Tutorial Mission in Nioh 2. This mission is recommended for level 1, and tasks players with completing the tutorial objective of wielding a Sword and managing Sword Skills.

"Watching you take down that monstrosity, it's clear that you have some skill but also that you are self-taught. There's only so much you can learn on your own.
But luckily for you, I've found just the teacher for you. None other than the master of the blade, Tsukahara Bokuden himself. I was just as surprised as you, believe me."
Mission Complete Text
"Hmm, I had heard that you fight like a demon, Hide, and it would seem that you live up to your reputation.
Recently there has been a relentless surge of yokai coming into this world. As a humble priest, I have cut down many malicious yokai in my travels, but I cannot stem the tide alone. Should you wish to increase your chances of survival out there in the battlefield, then I shall take up my odachi and gladly teach you the way of the warrior."

Walkthrough
When you start the mission, you'll arrive at the Dojo and find Tsukahara Bokuden ahead. Walk up to the glowing item and pick up 1x Swordsman's Locks. Open the menu, cycle through the items and use the Swordsman's Locks. Next, you'll need to spend the skill point you obtained to learn a Sword Skill. After unlocking a skill, two soldiers wielding a sword will appear. You'll have to defeat them both to complete this tutorial mission. Interact with the glowing orb to exit the mission.
