This serves as the first mission of the game. You'll find countless echoes from looting glowing items that contain information and tutorial for the various game mechanics. It seems that this message is from someone that's heard whispers of my work slaying yokai. There are no hints as to who sent it, but it appears to have come from a village called Jusanzakura. If there really are yokai there, then it might be worth heading that way to take a look.

The Beast Born of Smoke and Flames

1. Pray at the first shrine.
2. Go east, open the large chest in the house.
3. Pet the first Scampuss behind the same house.

5. Open a large chest inside a well-built house.
6. Grab the second Kodama on the roof.
7. Fight the Ippon-Datara in the temple.
8. Climb down the ladder in the temple and speak to Senji Toyo.
9. Inside the cave, break to boxes to find the third Kodama.
10. Pray at the second shrine.
11. Enter the second dark realm and kill the Enki to dispel the dark realm.
12. Head to the gate of the forge.
13. Grab the fifth Kodama that's outside the forge.
14. Open another large chest on the right side, outside the forge.

Some strange occurrences are happening in Tatara. In the mission, Tokichiro brings you along to meet a potential buyer of spirit stones, which is Saito Dosan. He then asks you to investigate Tatara. A mysterious woman also appears at the end of the mission who crosses blades against the protagonist, luckily, Tokichiro was able to stop the two from killing each other.

Yoshitatsu has sent her forces to assault Master Dosan. Word is that Dosan suffered some heavy losses and retreated wounded to his estate, you must head to the sanctum to clear out Yoshitatsu's forces and help Saito Dosan. At the end of this mission, you'll obtain a new Guardian Spirit.

The Hidden Monsters of Okehazama

5. Defeat the Yamanba yokai.
6. Trade with the Sudama that's near the shortcut of the first shrine.
7. Pet the first Scampuss by the cliff walkway guarded by a Yamanba.
8. Grab the third Kodama in the forest section, hiding by the bushes.
9. Pray at the second shrine.
10. Find the fourth Kodama inside another cave, near the red torii gate.
11. Kill the Yamanba within the yokai mist.
12. Dispel the dark realm by killing the One-eyed Oni.

25. Head back to the cave where the third shine is.
26. Proceed to the courtyard section.
27. Grab the last Kodama near a burning tree.
28. Proceed to the boss area.
29. Defeat Imagawa Yoshimoto.
30. Obtain Guardian Spirit: Rokugezo.

For this mission, Imagawa Yoshimoto's forces have infiltrated and assaulted Okehazama. You are tasked to fight through his soldiers and stop him at the other side of the mountain. You'll meet new NPCs in this mission, and at the end of this mission, you'll obtain a new Guardian Spirit.

The Mysterious One Night Castle

1. Speak to Tokichiro.
2. Pray at the first shrine.
3. Enter the forest section.
4. Kill the Waira to dispel the Dark Realm.
5. Grab the first Kodama hiding by the grass.
6. Find the first Scampuss that's on high-ground in the forest section.
7. Close the floodgate and head to the fort section.
8. Pray at the second shrine.
9. Speak to Hachisuka Koroku.
10. Kill the Waira within the yokai mist.
11. Unlock the gate of the fort.
12. Trade with the Sudama that's near the gate at the end of a dead-end.
13. Grab Onmyo Mage's Locks inside a small chest on the second floor of the building.
14. Find the second Kodama on top of the scaffolding.
15. Close the second flood gate. And head down the lower area.
16. Open the large chest containing a Mujina at the end of the path.
17. Climb up the ladder and you'll find the third Kodama inside the room.
18. Head to the second floor of the building and head to the roof.
19. Guide the fourth Kodama that's on the roof.
20. Pet the Scampuss that's around the corner of the same building.
21. Clear the Dark Realm inside the fort by killing the Karasu Tengu.
22. Grab the fifth Kodama that's hiding behind an open large chest.
23. Exit the fort. (Optional) Use the Spa (Hot Spring) that's by the exit.
24. Pet the third Scampuss near the spa.
25. Enter the forest and clear the dark realm by killing the Enki.
26. Open the chest inside the hut to find Ninja's Locks.
27. Close the floodgate.
28. Head to the lower section and climb up the other ladder to find the second Sudama.
29. Grab the sixth Kodama that's on the edge of a cliff on the west side.
30. Climb back down the lower section and climb back up where the Sudama is.
31. Grab the seventh Kodama on the east side that's on the top of a large white torii gate.
32. Reach the end of the forest.
33. Close another floodgate to open a shortcut back to the first shrine.
34. (Recommended) Use the Spa (Hot Spring) behind the hut before heading to the boss.
35. Fight and Defeat Kamaitachi.

Lord Nobunaga wishes to expand his influence into the northern reaches of Mino. You are tasked to investigate the area for Lord Nobunaga. This mission features both human and yokai enemies. In the woods around Sunomata, a shadowy shape moves like a blur through the branches. Tokichiro tracks down the beast and realizes that is is the Kamaitachi, a yokai that he has been looking for. Once the protagonist was able to tame the beast, Tokichiro uses his power to calm the beast and offers to help him. Koroku brings his other yokai pals to pitch in and was able to build a castle in one night.

The Hollow Fortress

1. Speak to Tokichiro.

6. Ride the elevator and jump down before reaching the top.

10. Head outside the castle grounds from the upper-section of the prison cells.
11. Grab the third Kodama at the edge of the cliff.
12. Kick the ladder down that leads near the second shrine.
13. Pray at the second shrine.
14. Explore the upper section.
15. Open the chest containing Onmyo Mage's Locks near the Koroka yokai.
16. Maneuver your way around the narrow path.
17. Grab the fourth Kodama at the watchtower.
18. Grab the fifth Kodama on the east side of the castle.
19. Obtain Castle Gate Key from the Enki that's within the yokai mist.
20. Trade with the Sudama inside the armory.
21. Head inside the castle via the east gate.

23. Pet the Scampuss near the stairs.
24. Head to the first floor of the castle and kill the Koroka in the basement to dispel the dark realm.

Tokichiro and the protagonist seek an audience with Takenaka Hanbei, a man famed for his wisdom, who is in ill health and has retreated from public life. At first he declines the request to aid the pair, but Tokichiro uses the power of the Spirit Stones to purify Hanbei's Guardian Spirit, Hakutaku, who speaks to the protagonist. Hanbei realizes who his visitors are and vows to be of service to them. You are tasked to reach the keep of the castle and to face Saito Yoshitatsu.

A Way Out

As the protagonist attempts to flee the battle and makes their way towards Kagenasaski, Mumyo helps and leads the protagonist to an abandoned village. The Tatarimokke attacks the duo whose wings harbor countless dead souls.

A fierce battle rages by the Anegawa river between the combined forces of Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu and the armies of the Azai and Asakura clans. You must hurry to the center of the battlefield and help Honda Tadakatsu fight against Magara Naotaka who has taken form of a demonic yokai.

7. Clear the cave infested with Tesso yokai.

10. Pray at the second shrine.
11. Dispel the second dark realm
12. Head to the underground/basement section of the castle.
13. (Optional) Feed Ryunojo 20-30 Dung Balls.
14. Grab the fourth Kodama in the cave.
15. Guide the fifth Kodama in the basement.
16. Head inside the castle via the basement.

18. Dispel the dark realm on the second floor by killing the Namahage.
19. Flip both switches to rotate the red and purple bridge.

21. Jump down from the red bridge, and drop into the hole on the floor.

Determined to protect Lady Oichi, the protagonist enters the keep of Odani Castle, only to encounter Azai Nagamasa. Knowing why the intruder has come, Nagamasa takes the form of the demon Yasha and attacks.

Following an assault from Akechi Mitsuhide, Nobunaga's base of Honnoji is in flames. In an inner sanctum of the temple, he instructs his loyal retainer, the Obsidian Samurai, not to allow his remains to fall into the hands of his enemies. He then waits for the end alongside his wife.

Akechi Mitsuhide's forces are struggling as Tokichiro and his army advance relentlessly. Mitsuhide has his suspicions about Sito Toshimutsu and makes them known. With his eyes glowing red, Toshimitsu smiles defiantly and draws his sword.

Ruin Draws Near

The protagonist is tasked to reach the castle keep and face Shibata Katsuie who has taken the form of a fearsome yokai. At this point, there's no other way but to cut him down and save Lady Oichi.

The Two Faces of Hospitality

The protagonist is tasked to assault Tokichiro's base which is pitched in the battlefield of Komaki and Nagakute. Tokichiro wishes to strike a deal and be reunited with his old friend, but the protagonist doesn't react. There is no other way but to cross blades with an old friend.

The High-spirited Demon

6. Fight Hachisuka Koroku.
7. Maneuver your way around the giant yokai.
8. Defeat the Mezuki.
9. Grab two more Kodama before reaching the third shrine.
10. Fight and defeat Daidara Bocchi.
11. Arrive at the interim.
12. Obtain a new Guardian Spirit: Hakutaka.
13. Speak to Hanbei and Miyoshino.

As you defeat Tokichiro and leave him to his end. A malevolent force skies over Komaki and Nagakute which causes all the yokai fighting alongside the Tokugawa forces to frenzy and attack their allies. In the midst of the chaos and confusion, the protagonist and Mumyo decide to flee the battlefield together.

The Mausoleum of Evil

Hearing rumors that a large number of Spirit Stones could be found there, the protagonist and Mumyo sneak into Jurakudai. What greets them there is the sight of Sen no Rikyu in a cage in the courtyard. Rikyu shares his guardian spirit, Isanagami.

There are 8x Kodama, 2x Sudama, 2x Scampuss, 2x Locks, and 1x Spa that can be found in this mission. And there are 3x Dark Realms that needs to be dispelled.

Cherry Blossom Viewing in Daigo

1. Grab the first Kodama at the back section of the starting point.
2. Pray at the first shrine.
3. Grab two more Kodama before reaching the second shrine.
4. Find and kill the seven soldiers of the seven wonders to obtain a trophy.
5. Speak to Mumyo.
6. Speak to Okuni.
7. Pray at the second shrine.
8. Grab one Kodama before reaching the third shine.
9. Pray at the third shrine.
10. Grab three more Kodama before reaching the boss area.
11. Grab the last Kodama near the boss area.
12. Fight and defeat Tokichiro.
13. Obtain a new Guardian Spirit: Yumehami.
14. Fight and defeat Kashin Koji.

At Daigoji, the cherry blossom viewing party is in full swing and Okuni is performing a graceful sword dance. Just as the dance reaches its climax, she slices the curtain at the back of the stage in two to reveal the protagonist and Mumyo. Tokichiro is far from pleased and leaves the scene, while his concubines are thrown into a blind panic. At this point, yokai appears to block the protagonist and Mimyo's path.

Sealed Fate

1. Return to Byodo-In and face the seal.

After returning to Byodo-In, the protagonist takes Sohayamaru and plunges it into the horn she has brought while Mumyo watches somewhat anxiously. Otakemaru appears floating in midair, suffering and raging against the seal that has been placed upon him. Now that she has completed the task, the protagonist slowly closes its eyes as Mumyo looks on...

The Blue-eyed Samurai

1. Fight William
2. Obtain a new Guadian Spirit: Saoirse.

The protagonist opens its eyes to see a man with piercing blue eyes standing in front. The man notices the red light that glows in the protagonist's eyes and slowly unsheathes his sword.

In the Eye of the Beholder

1. Speak to Mumyo
2. Speak to William
3. Pray at the first shrine.
4. Fight your way through the yokai.
5. Pray at the second shrine.
6. Follow the woman William is chasing.
7. Fight and defeat Otakemaru.

William tracks down the woman named Maria who, in her pursuit of Spirit Stones, is attempting to revive Tokichiro and fan the flames of war. The man with the staff appears and attempts to possess Tokichiro once again but he is blocked by the protagonist. As he/she struggles to fight the malign spirit that assails him/her, the protagonist brings forth the Dark Realm which threatens to consume her.
