Toxic Slime is an Enemy in Nioh 2. Toxic Slime is an amorphous Yokai with a fluctuating body mass. It attacks with slams and has longer reach than expected.

 

Enemy Description

  • Toxic slime has a malleable body that is very resistant to attacks, so the key to repelling one is to aim for its glowing core. Some believe that Toxic Slime is the result of years of aging on a regular slug, while others speak of a failed attempt to manufacture a poison called "gu".
  • An ancient form of "rock, paper, scissors" in Japan is "frog, slug, snake." Snake beats frog, frog beats slug, and slug beats snake by dissolving it in mucus. This has led some to believe that a slug who has lived a long life must have dissolved a great number of snakes, and the snake venom in its body is responsible for transforming it into a yokai.
  • "Gu" is a poison commonly used in assassinations and dark magic. Its method of creation is uncommonly cruel - snakes, toads, centipedes, and all manner of venomous creatures are sealed in a pot to fight until one survivor remains. The venom of the sole survivor is then harvested to form "gu". This practice has long been considered a taboo and was outlawed as early as the Nara period in the Yoro Code. In the event, no survivor is left and the sacrificed creatures are not given proper burials, it is said that the malice and evil that have no outlet remaining coalesce to form a Dokunumeri.
