Biwa Boku-boku is an Enemy in Nioh 2. Biwa Boku-boku is a Yokai that takes the form of a monk strumming on a demonic biwa. This enemies' presence in an area will cause certain Bloody Graves to swirl with darkness as the player approaches. Get too close and a Revenant will be summoned automatically. Biwa Boku-Boku will not respawn in an area once killed.
Enemy Description
- A yokai taking the form of a monk playing a biwa lute. The biwa is the yokai itself: the "monk" is simply a reflection of Hoichi, the biwa player whose unwise dealings with restless Heike warrior spirits cost him both his ears. Lures intruders deep into places of evil with its eerie melodies.
- The second half of the name is said to refer to Bokuba, a famous biwa lute in ancient japan. Tunes played on Bokuba had the power to summon and bewitch spirits and yokai like the vengeful Heike Warriors who attacked hoichi and even to call Revenants forth from their bloody graves.
Biwa Boku-boku Locations & Drops

- Drops Biwa Boku-boku Soul Core
Combat Information
- The weak spot of the enemy is the biwa (instrument).
- Most of the time these enemies are strategically placed away from normal view and near non-player Bloody Graves. Getting past these graves while keeping a distance can prevent them from completely summoning the grave.
- Once spotted by this enemy, it will summon multiple Oni-Bi. This however can only happen when it sees a player directly; unlike the passive ability to raise Bloody Graves.

I wonder if the oni-bi (floating elemental head yokai) they summon can drop soul cores too like the ones that spawn out of the cursed lanterns. In my experience the oni-bi summoned by this yokai don't drop soul cores or if they do they have a masively reduced drop rate because after farming for about an hour I got no soul cores where the lantern summoned oni-bi would have droped multiple soul cores by then.
