Kawanami Clan Waistguard is a Light Leg Guards in Nioh 2. Head Armor protects the Legs of the player and can have varying degrees of quality and level, just like Weapons. In addition, they can provide Toughness bonus, physical, and elemental protection to your character. Light Armor, lowers your equipment load, making you move faster and Dodge more easily. Toughness makes you deplete less Ki when Blocking, so if you wish to Block more often, consider wearing Armor that provides more. Usually the heavier Armor the better.
Kawanami Clan Waistguard Description
This piece of armor consists of simple tassets that hang from the waist. Black-lacquered iron plates have also been sewn on to the thick cloth hakama. The fact that they offer greater protection than the matching outerwear is thought to be because any leg injury would severely hamper the ability to swim and move through water, vital skills for the Kawanami clan.
It is part of a set of light armor favored by Hachisuka Koroku who served as the leader of the Kawanami clan that operated within the Kiso River valley. The clan was known to coexist and cooperate with the yokai of the region.
