Sanada is a Clan in Nioh2. Players can pledge their allegiance to a Clan at the Hidden Teahouse to acquire passive Special Effects that affect all Characters linked to the account.

After serving as vassals of the Takeda clan, the Sanada clan came to establish its own base in Ueda, a city in eastern Shinano Province (modern-day Nagano prefecture). Among its most noted leaders are Sanada Masayuki and his son, Yukimura.

Masayuki established his independence after the fall of the Takeda clan, taking advantage of the turbulence that followed the Honnoji Incident to expand his area of influence. Facing more powerful opponents such as the Uesugi, Hojo, and Tokugawa clans, he exercised great skill in outmaneuvering them, though his antagonism toward the Tokugawa would prove to be a source of eventual trouble. He later appealed to Toyotomi Hideyoshi to be allowed to enter his service, sending Hideyoshi his second son, Yukimura, as a hostage in return.

The Sanada crest depicts the coins that are said to be needed by the dead to pay for their way across the Sanzu River, the Japanese version of the Styx. The design is believed to symbolize that one is prepared to die at any moment.

Sanada Notes

  • The more you contribute during Clan Battles and the longer you stay in the clan, the greater the effects of the Crest Protection will be.
  • The Cross Spear Equipped Melee Damage bonus applies whether or not the cross spear is holstered. Having multiple cross spears equipped does not increase the effect.
  • The "Increased Attack & Defense (Surrounded)" bonus increases your melee damage and defense based on how many enemies are currently targeting you. The scaling at AAA rank is as follows:
Enemies Targeting You Increased Melee Damage Reduced Physical Damage Taken
    1 No Change No Change
    2 12% -6.5%
    3 26.7% -13%
    4 39.5% -15.8%
