Niwa is a Clan in Nioh2. Players can pledge their allegiance to a Clan at the Hidden Teahouse to acquire passive Special Effects that affect all Characters linked to the account.

The Niwa clan ruled over Omi Province (modern—day Shiga prefecture). Its most noted leader is Niwa Nagahide.

The family once served the Shiba clan, governors of Owari Province, but this changed during Nagahide's reign. Nagahide came to serve as a senior Oda clan retainer alongside Shibata Katsuie, and the two proved to be a formidable duo. After Nobunaga's death, Nagahide switched his loyalty to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, greatly expanding his clan's dominion to include Echizen and Kaga Provinces. Sadly, he was soon taken ill and passed away. He was succeeded by his son, Nagashige, but Hideyoshi seized much of the Niwa's lands and retainers, greatly weakening the clan.

The Niwa crest is based on a diagonal brace, a structural component used to fortify the pillars of buildings. The diagonal brace is said to symbolize the protection of one's home or castle. Another theory posits that Nagahide adopted this crest after observing the bloody "X" mark left behind on a piece of cloth when he used it to wipe off his sword durine battle.
