Azai is a Clan in Nioh2. Players can pledge their allegiance to a Clan at the Hidden Teahouse to acquire passive Special Effects that affect all Characters linked to the account.

 

The Azai clan ruled over northern Omi Province (present-day Shiga prefecture). Azai Nagamasa, brother-in-law to Oda Nobunaga, is among their most famous leaders.
Nagamasa married Nobunaga's younger sister, Oichi, to establish an alliance with the Oda clan. However, when the Oda clan declared war against the Asakura clan of Echizen Province, Nagamasa sided with the Asakuras, who were long-time allies of his family. Nobunaga was furious, and crushed both Nagamasa and the Asakura clan.
The Azai crest consists of a tortoise shell and flower-inspired design, though its origins are unclear. One theory posits that the tortoise shell represents the mythical tortoise that is said to protect the north—something that might have appealed to Nagamasa, whose domain was the north of Omi Province.
