Tokugawa is a Clan in Nioh2. Players can pledge their allegiance to a Clan at the Hidden Teahouse to acquire passive Special Effects that affect all Characters linked to the account.
The Tokugawa clan, which rose to immense power in Eastern Japan under the leadership of Tokugawa leyasu, had its beginnings in Mikawa Province (known today as eastern Aichi prefecture).
In his youth, leyasu was sent as a hostage to Imagawa Yoshimoto, but ultimately struck out on his own following the Battle of Okehazama. Allying himself with the Oda clan, he extended his influence to the east, defeating the Takeda clan in the process. While he served the Toyotomi clan, he acquired a significant amount of territory centered around Musashi Province (modern-day Tokyo and Saitama prefecture). His subsequent methods for retaining his power and authority were acknowledged by none other than Hideyoshi himself.
The Tokugawa crest is derived from three hollyhock leaves. In ceremonies performed when troops departed for the front, abalone, chestnuts, and kelp were placed on hollyhock leaves as offerings in the hope of securing victory.
