Otomo is a Clan in Nioh2. Players can pledge their allegiance to a Clan at the Hidden Teahouse to acquire passive Special Effects that affect all Characters linked to the account.

 

The Otomo clan ruled Bungo Province, known today as Oita prefecture. Its most famous leader is Otomo Sorin.

For many generations, the Otomo clan produced the military governor of Bungo Province. During Sorin's reign, he expanded the clan's influence to the entirety of northern Kyushu, clashing with the likes of the Ryuzoji and Shimazu clans. When war with the Shimazu clan left him in a precarious position, he approached Toyotomi Hideyoshi for aid, spurring Hideyoshi's Kyushu campaign. Sorin is also well-known for being a Christian daimyo.

The Otomo crest design is based on a riding accessory sported by horses in foreign lands. This accessory was considered a symbol of power in northern Kyushu.
