Saika is a Clan in Nioh2. Players can pledge their allegiance to a Clan at the Hidden Teahouse to acquire passive Special Effects that affect all Characters linked to the account.
The Saika clan was a group of commoners-turned-mercenaries based in the Kii Provinc; (modern-day Wakayama prefecture). It did not serve a specific lord and would dispatch soldiers wherever they were needed as requests came in for their assistance. The clan's mastery of firearms made its soldiers fearsome opponents. Among its most famous personalities is Saika Magoichi.
In truth, there were several men named Magoichi, as it was a name passed down to eac leader of the Saika clan. The clan is known to have lent aid to the Ikko-ikki of Honganji Temple, holding the besieged fortress of Ishiyama Honganji and fighting the Oda army to the death. It was later forced to surrender during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's invasion of Kii Province, but its many soldiers are said to have dispersed to various parts of Japan and continued to prosper.
The Saika crest features a crow known as the Yatagarasu and was used by those who adopted the family name Suzuki, claiming descent from a priest of Kumano Shrine.
