Date is a Clan in Nioh2. Players can pledge their allegiance to a Clan at the Hidden Teahouse to acquire passive Special Effects that affect all Characters linked to the account.
The Date clan extended its influence from Date, Mutsu Province (modern-day northern Fukushima prefecture) to all of Oshu in northeastern Japan. Its leader during the height of its power was Date Masamune.
Upon becoming head of the clan, Masamune had to contend with the clan's rivals—the Mogami, Ashina, and Satake. Though he lost some of his momentum after his defeat in the Battle of Hitotoribashi, it was only a matter of years before he had conquered Oshu and was known by the nickname, the "One-Eyed Dragon". He surrendered to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, but was frequently suspected of plotting rebellion due to his ambition and the sense that he was merely biding his time.
The Date crest was granted to the family by the Uesugi clan, who formerly held the position of Kanto kanrei (deputy to the shogun). At the time, the Date clan was considering sending the Uesugi clan a son to be adopted, The crest depicts two sparrows encircled by bamboo.
