Baku Description

A guardian Spirit that feasts on people's desires, or on the Spirit Stones formed from them. According to the Chinese poet, Bai Juyi, the creature possess the nose of an elephant, the ears of a rhinoceros, the tail of a cow, and the legs of a tiger. In Japan, Baku are believed to devour dreams, this concept seemingly emerging after the original legends arrived from mainland Asia. In China, it was believed that sleeping on a Baku pelt would ward off evil, and some fragments of folklore speak of it eating stone and metal. Yet many details about it remain unknown. It is thought that the Baku, having built up a store of Spirit Stones over the ages, possess great hidden power, but its placid nature prevents it using this to harm others. A Baku that serves as a Guardian Spirit is believed to reflect the spirit of the one they protect, and will lend them the strength to realize their dreams.

How to unlock Baku

How to use Baku

  • The guardian spirit Skill is Baku creating a cloud of Corruption and Paralysis in front of it. It does no damage and Ki damage but is great at applying both elements, though the cloud will knock enemies out of Paralysis. Despite this, it will immobilize them for an extended period of time.
  • This is tied for the Highest attunement limit in the game with Sohaya and Ho-oh, and it has the highest attunement limit of all the Brute Guardian Spirits.
  • Every one of the special effects are strong, even outside of the Corruption payoffs, though the Pleiades effect is available on a easy to get accessory. This spirit gets even better at endgame, as you get more powerful payoffs for Corrupting enemies in Magatsuhi's Grace and Sarutahiko's Grace.
