The Burning Sky

Mission Start Text

Hey, could I ask you to do me a favor again?

I want to get even more heat out of our furnace, and that's going to mean more magatama.

I've heard rumors of some at a sacred mountain by the name of Mount Ibuki, where even the water is believed to have the power to purify corruption.

But there's talk of all manner of nasty yokai, so watch yourself out there!

Mission End Text

Oh thank you! This is exactly what I was after!

Wow, I'll bet it's brimming with power, coming from a sacred mountain and all! This ought to do the trick!

I'll be able to make far better weapons and armor with this, so make sure you come by the forge later to see for yourself.

The Burning Sky Walkthrough

Starting Point

starting point the burning sky nioh 2 wiki guide 600px

Players arrive at Mount Ibuki where the first shrine can be found at the starting point of this mission. Go straight towards the path of the cliffside and head to the top. Just about midway, look behind you and at the top, and you'll see a Warrior Skeleton wielding a rifle standing on the wooden platform. Ready your bow and kill it to stop it from shooting at you. Next, turn to the left side and you'll see an incline that goes to a shack, there's an Enki that's hanging above about midway, so aim your bow or rifle and shoot it down. After killing the Yokai, head towards the shack and go straight towards the cliffside where you'll see an Ubume along the path - kill it then continue forward towards a cave entrance leading to a forest section.

On the other side of the cave entrance, you'll come out of a forest section infested with a couple of yokai. You'll see another Enki, a Yamanba, and a One-eyed Imp ahead. On the east side of the forest, there's also a Mitsume Yazura that's roaming behind the trees, another Enki hanging at the top of the trees, a One-eyed Oni that's within a mist, and an Ubume near it.

Also, where the mist and Ubume was, you'll find a ladder near a bridge that you can kick down that leads back to the starting point. And across the bridge, there's a path that goes up to a house where you'll find a large chest and a Rusty Key from a corpse that's also inside the house. After grabbing the key, head back down and towards the west section of the forest - but before you reach the forest, a Karasu Tengu will cut you off when you cross the bridge.

When you're back in the forest, you'll see that there's a tall set of stairs on the west side that leads to a temple. At the top, there's another One-eyed Oni behind a boulder, and near it is a Warrior Skeleton wielding a rifle. Shoot the Warrior Skeleton first to kill it, then shoot the One-eyed Oni, this will trigger it to push the boulder down the stairs. After you've killed both yokai, before heading up the stairs, there's another door leading to a small room near the stairs. It's guarded by a Karasu Tengu within the mist, and inside the room is another Ubume, you'll find an item that you can loot inside the room.

When you've cleared the forest grounds and killed the yokai, head up the stairs, and just about midway before reaching the temple. Check the corner right side, under the temple, you'll see a wooden box, behind it, is a Scampuss - after grabbing the Scampuss, head up to the entrance of the temple, check around it to find another large chest, and pray at the second shrine next to the locked door.

When you're ready, open the locked door using the Rusty Key and you'll enter the area that's engulfed with the Dark Realm. Immediately, you'll see an Onyudo, two Oni-bi ahead, and a Warrior Skeleton standing on the cliff that's on the upper right and another on the left. You'll want to kill the two Oni-bi first with your ranged weapons, followed by the Warrior Skeleton that's on the upper left. Ignore the one that's on the right for now, because killing it will spawn a Karasu Tengu to fight alongside the Onyudo. If you want to play it safe then just ignore the Warrior Skeleton on the right, if you want a challenge, kill it for the Tengu yokai to spawn - focus on the Onyudo because that's the main target, killing it successfully completes the mission and you'll obtain Kagatsuchi's Magatama.
