Mission Start Text
Listen to this!
You know Mataza has been looking for a way to get back into Lord Nobunga's good graces right?
Well, it seems he's gong all out and has charged off on his own to take on a well-known enemy of the Oda clan. But this isn't just any old foe - he's going after a warrior who has managed to cut down some of the Oda clan's finest men.
I think he's going to need all the help he can get, don't you? So what do you say?
Mission End Text
Thank you. You've been a great help. Thanks to you, Lord Nobunga has permitted me to serve at his side once more.
If you hadn't come along, things would have gone very differently, I fear. It would seem I still have a way to go in mastering this spear of mine.
Anyway, please, take this as a token of my gratitude.
Kodama Locations
- When you reach the temple from the starting point, go east and exit the small red torii gate where you'll see a patrolling soldier and another that's looting a corpse. You'll find the Kodama behind the stone lantern.
- The second Kodama can be found near the starting point, under the stairs outside the temple on the west side. You can go around it or open the door from the east entrance.
- The third Kodama is inside the cave where you find Maeda Toshiie. Head to the east section of the cave from where you fought the Waira and Aberrant Soldier. Go up the stairs, then turn right, you'll find the Kodama on the left side of the corridor, standing next to some candles.
- The fourth Kodama can be found in the opposite room where you found the third Kodama. Go in the large room that seems to be a dead-end where there are two Dweller. Check the wall that's on the left side for it reveal itself as Nurikabe. You'll find the Kodama behind it next to some Jizo statutes.
- The last Kodama can be found at the right side behind the red pillar beside the closed door of the marked destination.

A Hot-blooded Howl Walkthrough
First Shrine
For this mission, you'll want to stock up on Antidote since you'll be encountering areas that are filled with poison gas. Upon arriving, players will find a friendly NPC at the starting point, as well as the first Kodama shrine. Speak to the NPC, you'll learn that the soldier is Maeda Toshiie's nephew and mentions that he'll stay behind while you find him and help him fight. As soon as you head up and reach the temple, you'll see two human enemy soldiers, one roaming and the other standing by the big torii gate.
To find the first Kodama, go up the temple and around from the right side where you'll see another soldier wielding a hammer that's patrolling. Kill him first, and then head to the small red torii gate. You'll see another soldier looting a corpse ahead, you'll find the Kodama behind the stone lantern. You can also loot a corpse at the end of the path that's on top of the huge torii gate - go back inside the temple after finding the Kodama.
The second Kodama will be outside the house, under the stairs. Go inside the temple from the right east entrance and open the door that's ahead of you (which is the west entrance). Go down the stairs and check the corner where you'll find the Kodama.
After finding the Kodama, kill the soldiers that are outside then head back inside the temple and approach the mist that's in the middle. The yokai within the mist is an Ippon-Datara. Kill it then loot the corpse that's also in the middle platform.
After that's done, go back outside the temple on the west side where you found the second Kodama and head towards the path that's engulfed with poison gas. There are Yokai within the gas, so the first thing is to make sure you have enough Antidote and Elixir. Once you're in the poison gas, avoid fighting the Yokai first, find and destroy the rock that's emitting the gas or try to bait one Yokai at a time outside the poison gas and kill it. For the poison-filled area on the west side of the temple, you'll find the rock in the middle next to a stone lantern that's being guarded by an Enki, Gaki, and Dweller. Assuming you've cleared the area of Yokai and the poison, make sure to search the area where you'll find the second Kodama shrine, some corpses you can loot, and a small chest that you can open - there's also a mist near the shrine containing a One-eyed Oni.
The objective is on the east side that will lead you into a cave. But you'll want to check the other entrance of the cave on the left side near the second Kodama shrine. Inside the cave, you'll find Maeda Toshiie, surrounded by two Gaki. Help him kill the enemies, speak to him after helping him and he'll join the party as a companion until you finish this sub-mission.
Temple Caves
From where you found Toshiie, head straight into the cave where you'll encounter a patrolling Waira, an Aberrant Soldier, and a Dweller. Kill the enemies and head towards the spot where the Dweller was standing.
The third Kodama is in this cave. From where you fought the Waira, you'll want to go to the east side of the cave where the Dweller was. Head up the stairs and you'll come across a dead-end room that has two more Dweller on the left side at the end of the stairs. Go right and you'll find the Kodama standing next to some candles and an arrow-shooting device on the left side of the corridor. There's a Gaki straight ahead that's eating a corpse that you can eat. Shoot it instead of approaching it since there's a pedal on the floor next to it that shoots out arrows if you step on it - go around the pedal after killing the Gaki and loot the corpse.
After finding the fourth Kodama, don't jump down, but instead, go back to the opposite room that seems to be a dead-end where you encounter two Dweller. Walk up a bit and check the wall on the left side, you'll find that it's a Nurikabe blocking a secret room behind it. If you input the right gesture it will let you pass without fighting it. If not, it will attack you and you'll need to kill it to reach the room its guarding.
Once you've taken care of the Nurikabe, go inside and you'll find a small room containing a large chest on the left side and the fourth Kodama on the right that's next to some Jizo statues. Once you've cleared the secret room, go back to the spot where you fought the Waira and head towards the next section that has a bridge in the cave.
As you head deeper inside the cave, you'll find a bridge inside the cave where you'll encounter more Yokai such as an Aberrant Soldier, Dweller, Gaki, and Yoki. Apart from that, make sure to look at the ground since there will be pedestals along the path that activates the nearby machines to shoot out flame arrows.
Once you've crossed the bridge, you'll encounter more Yokai here, first is a large Gaki on the right and then an Aberrant Soldier looting on the left. You'll want to clear the entrance first before you head straight into a large room that is filled with poison gas. Inside that room, there's an Enki, two Oni-bi, a large Dweller, and a Yoki that's inside a resting room. Again, try to draw out one yokai at a time outside the room first, so you can easily maneuver around the room to find and destroy the rock emitting the gas. Once you've cleared the room, search the area where you'll find another large chest.
As mentioned, there's a small resting room in the same section where the gas was. You'll see that there's a Yoki inside that room, kill it then head inside where you'll find a ladder that leads deeper to the cave and towards the marked destination. You'll encounter two soldiers here. Before you head towards the objective, go left and up the stairs where you'll come across another soldier. At the end of the path, you'll find a locked door that you can open which leads back to the temple near the starting point.
After you've unlocked the shortcut, go back down and head towards the marked destination. Before opening the door, check behind the red pillar on the right, you'll find the last Kodama. Make sure you've replenished your items or have made further preparations before heading inside the marked area.
Upon entering the room, you'll be ambushed by four soldiers and their leader. Try to kill the Archer first to stop it from shooting projectiles while you're fighting the rest of the soldiers. Since Toshiie is with you, it'll be helpful since the soldiers will most likely attack him more, just remember that he can be temporarily knocked-down if he takes a lot of damage and can only be recovered if you approach and assist him. Successfully killing all of the enemies completes the mission.
Speak to Toshiie after the battle and a short cinematic will trigger where you'll get to see his past, you'll be possessed and obtain his Guardian Spirit: Okuri-Inu after the cutscene.
