A Spirit's Return

A Spirit's Return is a Sub Mission in Nioh 2. This mission is recommended for level 146, has a difficulty level of 2, and features yokai enemies. A Spirit's Return tasks players with investigatin why some nigitama are still at Oniga Castle. This mission is unlocked after completing A Distant Dream and save all the Mujina in A Distant Dream, speak with Mujina in the Interim. Please see Missions for other walkthroughs on other missions.

Mission Start Text

"I simply cannot comprehend it. Otakemaru has been vanquished, yet countless nigitama are still at large in Oniga Castle. Is it possible they are being held captive by a yokai we failed to defeat? We must investigate. "

Mission End Text

"So it was a revenant that was leading the yokai? Well, if that is the case, it was most likely Fujiwara no Chikata. It was said he was able to get four demons to aid him in a revolt, though you must know how that turned out. Now, even after being subdued, he has chosen to return as a revenant to cause strife. Evidently he has not learned his lesson. Ah, what a tragedy! Still, with those yokai taken care of, the nigitama should find some peace of mind once again."

After pushing down a tree to form a bridge, go left and you will find a Suiki guarding a Scampuss.

A Spirit's Return Walkthrough

Fuki

As the mission starts, pray at the Shrine and go down the stone stairs to grab an item to the right. Now go forward to fight a Mitsume Yazura, followed by a Namahage, then 2 Konaki-Jiji and a Skeleton Warrior (Spear), and finally a Fuki. After killing them, go right towards the cave and kill the 2 Dwellers along the way. Open the cell to the left and kill the Harinobo and Lesser Umi-bozu to get the chest there, then follow the path in the cave to kill a Namahage guarding 2 items. Now get out of this cave and follow the path to find a Mujina that can transform into you to help out, and kill the Ippon-Datara and Bakegani there. Go in the house to the left and grab the item guarded by a Dweller.

Kinki and Ongyoki

Now, go straight and to the right, kill the Dweller, grab the item and pass the bamboo bridge there. Approach the fog and a Big Bakegani and a Dweller will spawn, then another Dweller, then an Ippon-Datara, then an Aberrant Soldier, and finally a Kinki with an One-eyed Imp. Kill them all, and you will find a Scampuss where the fog was. Go along this path until you find an Aberrant Soldier next to an item, grab it and instead of following this path, go back to the house and go along the path to the left of it. Enter the Dark Realm and kill the Harinobo and Dweller along the way. Keep going up and kill the Dweller and Konaki-Jiji then fall to the right to kill 2 Aberrant Soldiers and grab an item there. To the right is an One-eyed Imp, kill it before killing the Onyudo patrolling the area. Go to where the Onyudo was walking and go right. Kill the Aberrant Soldier and Ongyoki there, and follow the stone bridge to find a hole you can jump in. At the end, there will be another Mujina and when you open the cell, you will find yourself in the cave from the beginning.

Suiki and the Boss

Now go back to where you were, and pick the path to the left to kill a Skeleton Warrior (Spear) and a Big Bakegani responsible for the Dark Realm. Kill it, go around the bones to the right for an item, kill the Bakegani there and push the tree to form a bridge. Go through it and go left to find a Suiki guarding a Scampuss. Now go to the right path and follow it to the end to fight against an Onyudo, a Nure-Onna, and then an Aberrant Soldier, a Big Skeleton Warrior and the Boss, Fujiwara no Chikata. Defeat them and head up the stairs to the right to talk to the Kappa and end this mission.
